S: NYC Graduation Trip - July 2010
Arrived early at JFK on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Decided to take the AirTrain and Subway (Becca's first ride) into Manhattan.
Checking out some of the city sights as we walked to our hotel (near the Fashion District) from the 42nd Street Subway Station. Sure glad we don't have to pay to park at home.!
 Ellis Island
Rode the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge
 Battery Park
 Financial District
Yes, we did take our lives into our own hands in Chinatown by following an Asian woman into a run-down apartment building, up three flights of stairs, and into an apartment...all for Coach purses. We were only permitted to enter after she had done the secret knock and had been checked through the peephole. We were pretty excited (and a tiny bit nervous) but think our purses were definitely worth the risk...
 Becca's | Becca's | Kiersten's | Caitlin's
We would not have survived without our Subway map.
SUBWAY SIGHTS | We grew to LOVE the Subway, but hated the stairs... sometimes it was just easier to walk the streets above. | Grand Central Station
Our Waiter/Waitress | "All Beef Patty"
After an evening at "Lips", we decided to take a cab instead of the Subway back to the hotel to be safe. (Ha-Ha) We jumped in the cab and gave the driver directions. Did I mention that he was on the phone talking in a foreign language? As he sped through the streets of NYC (passing our street, by the way) we clutched hands and prayed for our lives. Becca opted not to look as he almost hit a cab, bike, and a car. When I reminded him of our destination, he made a sharp turn at which point Becca uttered, "Pedestrian," and he began to chuckle...needless to say we were just happy to make it back to the hotel in one piece.
 67 Floors in 43 seconds | Wednesday, July 21, 2010
Rockefeller Center | Becca eating falafel for the first time... | Sampling the Rockefeller Center restaurants at lunch time...YUM.
 Shop 'til You Drop
Getting a taste of an official NYC hot dog... it is hiding behind that jumbo stack of pretzels. Becca said it was the best hot dog she had ever had.
during the day... | Toys R Us Ferris Wheel (inside the store)
 after dark... | Naked Cowgirl
 See us on the billboard?
 MMMMMM....Peanut Butter Frozen Hot Chocolate
Even in NYC we were reminded of Nana...
Last View of NYC from JFK before we boarded the plane back to Charlotte, NC | Becca, Years ago I gave you a challenge which you achieved and thus began our journey to NYC. To say that I am proud of you and the woman that you have become is an understatement. As we walked the streets laughing and having so much fun, I found myself incredibly grateful...you are more than any mother could ever hope for in a daughter. The friendship we share is just icing on the cake. Thank you for the memories of this incredible trip, each one of them a special treasure that I will never forget. I love you with every inch of my heart. Love Always, Mom
