When we left Halfmoon, NY for New York City, Daniel suggested we take the scenic route -- which we did. Following are some "drive-by" pictures taken as we travelled the rural back roads .
Beautiful countryside full of green fields and quaint houses...
We stopped and had a late lunch at the first of many diners that we would visit.
Finally getting into town. There's the Intrepid -- the kids can hardly wait to get on board...
THE BIG APPLE | New York City and our hotel - The Travel Inn...
On our way to the Museum of Natural History | Never did like subways...
 Hold on, Ariel!
The subway took us straight into the museum... How about that?!
 THE BIG APPLE
Cousin Adina and Buzz took us to the Palm Restaurant for dinner...
Pictures of the Eyjafjallajokull Volcano Eruption that caused all the problems ...
What do do? Our flight's been cancelled. British Airways doesn't answer the phone. Website says not to go to the airport... 'Twas a puzzlement.
THE INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITIONS OF SCULPTURE OBJECTS AND FUNCTIONAL ART Considered one of the foremost fairs for masterworks bridging contemporary decorative, fine art and design, the 13th annual Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair (SOFA) at the Park Avenue Armory enjoyed buoyant sales and steady crowds, from the packed house on April 15 straight through its four-day run, which ended on Monday, April 19. An estimated 2500 persons attended the preview throughout the course of the evening, up from 2200 last year. Leon Bronstein invited us to come and had complimentary tickets. Unfortunately, we missed the Gala which had all the Who’s Who in the art world there – with champagne overflowing. Approximately 18,500 collectors, curators, architects, interior designers, art advisors and new enthusiasts took in SOFA NEW YORK, presented by 58 international galleries and produced by The Art Fair Company. President and founding director of SOFA fairs in New York, Chicago and Santa Fe, Mark Lyman said, “The mood on the floor was energetic and more upbeat compared to last year. Many dealers reported their top offerings sold quickly at the preview and sales held steady throughout the fair.”

Still in a quandary as to what to do -- so let's go have dinner. This diner looks like a good place !
It's Friday -- Shabbat dinner in the diner. Not enough room for all of us at one table...
After dinner it was time to say goodbye to Arianna, Doron and Yannai who were going back home.. | but we manage...and we surprise Yuval with a piece of Bat-Mitzvah cake!...
 Walking down
 . . .
 Skyscrapers, skyscrapers,
 EVERYWHERE !!
 Just one more picture, please.
Everyone went to the M&Ms store ... more than once!
 People, people, everywhere !!
The Eyjafjallajokull Volcano Eruption caused all kinds of problems. .. phone calls/ internet, travel offices did not and could not help...
David and Judy treated us to a lovely dinner at this restaurant, a favorite of concert goers at nearby Carnegie Hall.
We ultimately bought new tickets for everybody on El-Al (only to be find out at the airport that Ariel's ticket was not paid for (but of course it was), and we had to pay again... Refund being made as I write... | Having to stay a couple of extra days because of the volcano, we decided to go on the 3-hour Circle Line boat tour around the island.
Steve and I went camera crazy so you're going to see a LOT of similar shots! The views were spectacular!
It was really cold, though, but we braved it and sat outside for most of the trip.
"Give me me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Steve really wanted to take Ofek to a Baseball game in Yankee stadium, but alas, there were no scheduled games while we were there.
Our last night in NYC, Adina and Buzz came in and took us out to dinner at a nearby diner.
Finally made it back to Israel on April 20th, a couple of days late, and a lot of dollars more... But our main goal was reached... we have 5 new American-Israeli citizens. Mazal tov to Yuval, Ofek, Ori, Dori and Ariel.!!
