Our Travels Along the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada Compiled by Joanne Wagoner

Our trip began with a flight to Montreal, Quebec. From there we drove east on the north side of the St. Lawrence River and stopped at quaint towns along the way. Pictured is the St. Paul Cathedral, a nearby park and a stone house in St. Paul.

Most towns along the river were anchored by a church or cathedral. These pictures are of St. Anne-De-Beaupre. in the town of the same name.

The Cyclorama was painted in Germany and depicts events of the crucifixion. Getting gas at the gas station was challenging as everyone spoke French except us. No one spoke English! Note the truck with the blue seat traveling on the railroad tracks.

The Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu was our lodging while in La Malbaie.

Gardens at the resort were absolutely gorgeous.

A few of the activities available at the resort.

A view from a balcony of one of the gardens below.

The picture to the right is of St. Joseph De-la-Rive where we went into an old Sears Store that sold appliances and farm equipment. We were surprised when we realized the the stair step was a waterfall in front of a restaurant. The barn captured our interest as we were driving on to St. Simeon.

The road between La Malbaie and St. Simeon was mountainous and often steep. Fields were blanketed with wildflowers.

We watched campers playing volley balls near the ferry crossing. | There were eight large semi-trucks on our ferry. | We boarded this ferry for the 2 1/2 hour trip across the river to Riviere Du Loup. | This is a view of the inlet at St. Simeon near the ferry.

The Town of Riviere Du Loup is noted for its beautiful waterfalls, and whale watching cruises.

Scenery along the St. Lawrence River

Scenes from the west side of the St. Lawrence River.

There were fields of rape grass mixed with wild flowers. Many beautiful farms and homes were along the highway.

Fountain in front of the Parliament Building . | Dufferin Terrace

 Quebec City | Fortification Wall

Our tour took us through the Plains of Abraham and Battlefields Park areas of Quebec City. | Dufferin Terrace | Governor's Home

 St Andrews Presbyterian Church

CHANGING OF THE GUARDS AT THE CITADEL | The Citadel | Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac | A view of the Fairmont from the river.

A cruise was part of our tour of Quebec City.

These pictures were taken at the Parliament Building in Quebec City. We were given a private tour of the interior of the building.

Photo of the cabinet when Bill was born in Canada. | Bill explored the gardens around the Parliament Building | Many statues surrounded the building.

This is the oldest continuous use restaurant in Quebec City. | This sword magician was part of the street entertainment for the Summer Festival. | A man was stuffed with balloons and dressed up by a street entertainer. | Flowering baskets were hung along many buildings.

Our Lady of VictoriesBacillica in Quebec City

We ate in some interesting places - from elegant dining in the Gouverneur Hotel to a family restaurant surrounded by dinosaurs.

Montreal Botanical Gardens | Montreal Tower Olympic Park

There are 30 gardens nestled into 96 acres including plants from various environments and growing conditions.

Montreal has miles of underground shopping. The pictures above show part of one block which included both below and above ground shopping.

Cathedrals of Montreal were magnificent. It was difficult to view the interiors due to the lack of nearby parking.
