FC: Outdoor Ed | By Quinn

1: The tree’s rustled, the wind blew, and students jumped off the bus and were ready to start their adventures of Outdoor Ed. A we all scrambled to get off, we were all overwhelmed by the sight of the mountains. Lots of children were nervous. I had tons of butterflies in my stomach. I was anxious. Would the food be good? Would I have fun? Once I was used to my surroundings, my stomach settled. I felt better because I wasn’t completely in the dark.. That night’s dinner was Chicken Pot Pie, it was yummy! I’m pretty sure everyone agreed the food was WAY better than any of the school lunch! The1st day was lots of fun. They had a Gaga Pit, I was soo HAPPY!! Gaga Ball is my favorite game. My friends and I had many memories and laughed A LOT. My best friends, the nature-filled hike, and group games made this Outdoor Ed trip extravagant. | The tree's rustled, the wind blew, and students jumped off the bus and were ready to start their adventures of Outdoor Ed. 5: What made this trip special was my friends. We spent a LOT of time laughing and being silly! When Tea , Emma, and I were drawing our quilt squares, Tea would not stop talking and goofing off. She was going crazy! Emma and I think she inhaled too much Sharpie scent. We still can't stop laughing about it. There wasn't any drama between us. All was good. Tea and Emma were also in my day group with Mrs.VanderVeen. She was awesome! The four of us laughed, danced and had lots of fun. Most of our friends were in other groups, so every chance we got, we found each other and caught up, especially at meals and breaks. My day group and I had a boatload of fun during the hike.

9: Elk is prey to many predators, including teachers in the Survival Game. The Survival Game is the last game we played up at Summit School. Students were Elk and teachers were Wolves. The group Quartz, won meaning most of the members found food and water. On the second day of Outdoor Ed, we played group games. One of the games we played was Dead Cocky, we had to perform different actions and be the first to do so. Tea and I won the first time, Emma and Grace one the second time. Another group game we played was Flinch Master, it was hard. People couldn’t be caught smiling or flinching. I didn’t win, my friend Katie did. The final game we played was Captain’s Coming. I won that game! We had to respond and do certain things to the order that was given. My positive attitude kept me in the game.

13: “A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.” said Herm Albright My friends are like my siblings, we all enjoyed every minute of Outdoor Ed. Our nature-filled hike in Rocky Mountain National Park was an educational experience I’ll never forget. The group games made some of us anticipate and participate at the same time. I’ve been to Estes Park before, but this trip topped all the others.
