They have been rebuilt and maintained through the 16th century. The majority of the existing wall was built during the Ming dynasty.

2: PETRA, JORDAN | 2008 | This historical and archaeological city that has rock cut architecture was established around the 6th century but remained unknown to the western world until 1812.

3: TAJ MAHAL AGRA, INDIA | 2010 | This mausoleum is the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements of Persian, Islamic and Indian architectural styles.
