FC: SOUTH AFRICAN TRIP December 2-22, 2010
Our first night in sunny South Africa was spent at a lovely B&B in Kempton Park, Bit O'Bush. The first morning in South Africa we were both up before everyone at around 5am sitting outside sipping on coffee and tea with homemade rusks while watching the birds in the garden. Mike hadn't slept on the flight coming into South Africa. He had watched 7 movies the entire trip of 15 hours. So we were very happy to have gotten some rest in a horizontal position on a soft bed at this B&B.
This was Mike's favorite part of his visit to S. Africa I don't blame him as Granny spoiled him rotten flutting about him the whole time. She did everything for him apart from tucking him in at night. The two of them enjoyed their early mornings together sitting on the front stoep drinking coffee, Mike eating koeksisters (twisted sisters), and chatting about anything and everything. The moment I showed some movement in the house at around 7am, then Granny would begin preparing breakfast with all the trimings. Eggs, toast, bacon, fried tomatoes, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, coffee, tea, and whatever else Mike's heart desired. Our 4 days with Granny was so good. We just relaxed, drove into town for a little lunch at a local coffee shop, went down to the Vaal river to see where the river had flooded, also enjoyed watching the Finch making a nest. The Sunday we went with Granny to her church where I had to translate the sermon from Afrikaans into English for Mike. Granny was rather proud showing Mike off to her friends. | Visit to Granny's in PARYS, Freestate
Granny in the kitchen whipping up anything Mike's heart desired :-)
Deon and Beverly Botha (my father's brother & sis-in-law) treated Mike & me to a lovely day at the Vaal river in Vanderbijlpark, where they live. We had lunch there and also a 30 minute boat ride. Granny joined us, including Halle Snow, Charlotte's little girl. Charlotte is my cousin and daughter of Deon & Beverly.
Had a lovely lunch visiting alongside the Vaal river in Vanderbijlpark. On the right, lil'Halle is suiting up for our boat ride. Was beautiful!
This dog was so cute. She knew exactly when to lay down, roll over for a belly rub, and just loved all the attention.
 SUN CITY ~Cabanas~
At the Sun City farmyard enjoying the birds up close, and also petting the goats. We found the rooster in the goats pen quite funny as he was quite content, like he was one of the goats - LOL!
This is where Mike would spend his early mornings with a cup of coffee, cookies and/or rusks while reading his Bible.
