S: St Lucia 2010 - Celebrating 5 Years of Marriage
FC: St Lucia - June 2010
June 4th, 2010 marked our 5th anniversary and in anticipation of such a wonderful occasion, we decided to book another trip to the beautiful Caribbean. We were accompanied by friends Matt and Courtney Placek. This book details our fantastic trip to beautiful St. Lucia and all the amazing things we did and saw!
Getting off our flight directly on the tarmac after an exciting travel through Chicago and Miami
The trip from the airport was more than an hour long around tight curves - NOT for the easily carsick! A return visit would warrant paying for the available helicopter ride to our resort!
Our first night on the island... dinner, swimming, and drinks!
Um, yes, I'd like to try one of everything on the menu please?
Every morning we jumped out of bed and ran to the days activities and every evening we dressed and dined like royalty. We usually capped the evening with seaside drinks, dancing, swimming, or listening to the live reggae band. We savored the flavor of Piton Beer, St. Lucia's trademark light brew served with a lime.
Though we stayed at the Sandals Regency, we tried very hard to try as many of the dining options offered at all the nearby Sandals resorts. Of course we had fun looking great... something we rarely get the opportunity to do in REAL life!
Dining at the Grande St Lucian
Some of the gorgeous things to see at Sandals Grande...
The beach was so peaceful and sweet... I could have spent hours with my toes in the sand.
Our First Breathtaking St. Lucian Sunset
 Our walk in the rainforest.
Activities on the island included zip-lining, golfing, deep sea fishing, and touring the drive-in volcano, rainforest, marketplace, and the Piton mountains.
Island Tour of St Lucia = $65 Hot Sulfur Springs Mud Bath = $5 Searing the skin off your feet to experience the magical healing = PRICELESS
 World's Only Drive-In Volcano (Pew)
 Rockin' the stylish lifevests
Courtney was terrified to take the kayak out due to her fear of being attacked by a shark. Needless to say, our kayaking excursion was brief.
 Oceanside fun!
 Best summer ever!
The beach on our resort was on yellow or red flag alert much of the time that we were there, meaning the swells were less than ideal or completely not recommended for swimming. However, that didn't stop us from enjoying the ocean a bit! Most tourists stayed in the pools but I much preferred the ocean. Still hoping to retire somewhere oceanside someday...
In St. Lucia, all taxi drivers are trained tour guides to support their most prosperous source of commerce - travel. Even guys like this fellow in his happening orange pants whom carry snakes through resorts for photo opportunities must carry a special permit. I witnessed another male tourist posing near, but definitely not touching, this particular snake... to which I yelled out "A real man holds his own snake!" The handler promptly brought the snake over and dropped it around Drew's neck! He must have had enough "Dirty Banana" or "No Pressure" frozen cocktails that his usual intense dislike was thwarted long enough for the photo!
We spent a glorious morning deep sea fishing on board a private charter off of the resort. We fished for 4 hours and caught nothing more than a buzz drinking Piton Beer. Ah well, day well spent!
The four of us spent 8 hours on a whole island tour seeing sights such as Marigot Bay, Drive-in Volcano and Hot Sulfur Springs, a stop at a banana plantation, lunch at an authentic St. Lucian restaurant, a walk in the rainforest, Piton Mountains, as well as visiting many historical landmarks. | City of Castries | Banana Plantation | The Piton Mountains | Volcano
Marigot Bay Filming sight for the original Dr. Dolittle
