2: May 2011 | OUTSTANDING | The summer of 2011 started off in May. You entered the local Peoria Hershey Track meet and got your first taste of what track was all about. We all knew that you could run from watching you in football, however none of us were prepared for the true ability that you showed once you started competing! You entered the 100 meter dssh, the 200 meter dash and the 4 x 100 relay. You came in first in every competiion that you entered!

7: When you ran at the Arizona State Final as an independent runner members of the Rising Suns track team saw how fast you were and recruited you to join their team. They said you were the missing link in their relay team and that you could get them to the National Junior Olympics in Kansas. So you started training with them and this was the first race you ran with the team.
8: We're off to the Regional Junior Olympics in Albuquerque, New Mexico! | The first Junior Olympics was held in 1967 in Washington, D.C. It has been held every year since. | In Ancient Greece the Olympic Games were played in Olympia, Greece. The first recorded games occurred in 776 B.C. and were held every four years! | The first ancient Olympic Games consisted of only one running event. It began when Koroibos, a cook from the nearby city of Elis, won the stadium race, a foot race 600 feet long. This was the only athletic event of the games for the first 13 Olympic festivals. | The ancient Greeks believed that fire was given to humankind by the God Prometheus and that fire had sacred qualities. They used mirrors to focus the sun's rays and light the torch for the games. | Olympic Motto "Faster, Higher, Stronger" | The Olympic flag ... has a white background, with five interlaced rings in the center: blue, yellow, black, green and red ... This design is symbolic ; it represents the five inhabited continents of the world,

11: MAKING MEMORIES
13: We made it to Albuquerque so you could run the 4 X 100 Relay in the Regional Junior Olympic Championships with your track team the "Rising Suns." This is the same track team that your mom ran on when she was 12 years old!. You ran first leg and your relay team took the silver medal (2nd Place) It was such a close race, so close in fact that they had to review the race on video tape to determine which team won the race!
14: "Lead the Way" The speed of the leader determines the rate of the pack.

24: Life brings simple pleasures to us every day. It is up to us to make them wonderful memories. ~Cathy Allen
26: We visited San Miguel Church . It is claimed to be the oldest church in the United States. Built between approximately 1610 and 1626. Though the church has been repaired and rebuilt numerous times over the years, its original adobe walls are still largely intact . | We also saw the Oldest House in America. It was built in 1612 (a long, long, long time ago) by the Pueblo Indians. It was closed when we went so we did not get to go inside though. | Adobe: meaning "mud brick" | Adobe: made from sand, clay, water, straw, sticks etc. and formed in wooden frames and dried in the sun. Extremely durable, and account for some of the oldest existing buildings in the world.
28: The Loretto Chapel was built in 1878 but there was no way to access the choir loft 22 feet above the chapel floor. The nuns of the church prayed for a solution. \ After nine days of prayer a strange man appeared at the chapel looking for work. He said he could build a staircase and built a spiral staircase. The staircase had no nails and was not supported from the top or bottom of the staircase. After the staircase was built the man disappeared without thanks or payment. They looked for him but could never find the man. The nuns believed that the stanger who built the staircase was Saint Joseph sent by God to answer their prayers. Joseph was a carpenter and the husband of Mary (Jesus mother). He was a good man and "when the angel came to Joseph in a dream and told him the truth about the child Mary was carrying, Joseph immediately and without question or concern for gossip, took Mary as his wife. When the angel came again to tell him that his family was in danger, he left everything he owned, all his family and friends, and fled to a strange country with his young wife and the baby. He waited in Egypt without question until the angel told him it was safe to go back (Matthew 2:13-23).

43: We stayed at a neat hotel in Wichita (Best Western) that had a huge indoor play area. Every night the team would meet and play together. They had video games, ping pong, pool tables, an indoor pool and lots of hallways to play hide and seek. The coaches and parents weren't too happy with the kids running through the halls playing hide and seek when they were supposed to be in bed resting up for the meet!
