BC: (C) Romina Rae R. Manalo | Greece Part I (Thessaloniki)

FC: Take me to the place I love.. | Take me all the way. | GREECE | THESSALONIKI,

Allow me to share with you a dream come true. . | Thank you Dad and Mom for allowing me to tag along. And thank you, God, for creating such a beautiful world.

How I got to Greece... | Dad had this International Conference in Thessaloniki and I asked if I could tag along. | We applied for a VISA one week before the trip. At first I wasn't sure if I would be approved, but thanks to prayers, TADA. :D

At the Qatar Airport with other Kiddies who tagged along too, and with soon-to-be-mine Porsche (Yes, a girl can dream) | Kept taking pictures only to find out bawal pala. Haha.

Our flight from Athens to Thessaloniki was at around 10pm. We tried twice but couldn't land cause of zero visibility so we had to turn back after the second try. It was such a turbulent flight that we all got scared and there was even someone who had difficulty breathing cause it was really scary :O | We stayed overnight at the VIP lounge in the Athens airport after lining up forever to have our tickets changed. Still, we were blessed because we had a place to stay.

In Thessaloniki, we stayed at the Makedonia Palace Hotel. FIVE STAR. What up. Haha.

Our suite had an awesome view. | And look, the TV greeted us! Hahaha. HOW COOL IS THAT.

Oct. 28 was a holiday there. We were able to witness a parade in front of our hotel.

It was raining on our 1st day there so it was really cold but my mom, Tita Eva and I still decided to walk around and take pictures. | Alexander the Great | With the Fountain of Frustration :|

Conquering The White Tower | at the top!

While walking around the city | Spot the super long bus! | THE view

King Philip II, Father of Alexander the Great | Can't get enough of their houses

Greece has a lot of beautiful churches.

Awesome walls and ceilings. Orthodox Church = No kneelers. Coolness.

 More of their beautiful Churches.

Hagios Demetrios (Saint Demetrius Church) | This Church was burned FOUR times.

They have huge candles. The one on the right is taller than me and is worth E15. each or around P900.

 The Ruins

Galerius Arch | The Rotunda.. and my huge forehead. | Built in honor of Galerius' victory over the Persians | a place of worship, but was changed several times because it was dependent on whatever was the prevailing religion at that time.

I couldn't go without having my picture taken with the cute red benches :)

Ang cool lang ng overpass nila, paikot. :) | At the hotel with the city lights.

Dinner at Hotel Panorama (stress on the 2nd syllable haha) with the panoramic view of the city. (barely seen in the photo below) | Commodore and Mrs. Pan, Gen. Mapagu, My parents and I, Kostas (my dad's escort) and his pretty wife (who happens to be the friend of the designer for H&M!)

We toured the Archaeological and Byzantine Museums. Cool stuff. | An ancient legislation | How people used to decorate their beds

 jewelry. statues. pillars. *sigh*

Ancient Hairstyles! | Simple | Complex | Moderate

spooky, eh? | Tombs | Funerary inscription

God(s) and Goddesses | Apollo | Demeter and Persephone | Artemis

Wall of an early Christian dwelling | More jewelry! | Mosaic :-o

Kostas treated us to an authentic Greek lunch! | Awesome place with an awesome view! We had lunch at 2pm-ish, which is the usual time Greeks have their lunch.

We had Greek salad, cheese and 2 kinds of fish, one was really huge and Kostas forced us to finish it. (Refer | to photo of a huge fish head) He also made us drink something that was 40% alcohol. Yes, at 2pm :)) Greeks are really | healthy eaters, though. They eat a lot of fish and barely eat pork/ beef. They don't eat rice too.

THE NIGHTLIFE. | Their bars advertise by putting alcoholic beverages usually on top of the cars. They also put bottles under the hood, as shown above.

I apologize because my pictures do no justice to the wonders of such a beautiful place. Nevertheless, I treasure these photos for they are proof that my dream of going to Greece actually came true. :) In case you want to check out the other photos, including those taken during my stay in Athens, they will be posted on my Facebook page. Thank you :) | XOXO, | Menay
