BC: a fantastic trip comes to a close

FC: Cruise down the Elbe with Margret, and family gathering in Berlin September 21- October 4, 2011

1: Our first rather sleepy morning in Prague, we stroll from our hotel along the Moldau River

3: Prague castle with medieval Charles Bridge in foreground

4: We take a stroll to the river, and see Prague's night life

5: we stroll through town, and come upon famous Wenceslas Square | crazy!

6: on the grounds of the Prague Castle , heading toward cathedral

8: Cathedral of castle | St. George

9: view over Prague

10: Medieval Charles Bridge, founded in 1357

11: Statues on bridge

12: Old town hall, with astronomical clock | waiting for the clock performance

13: view from the top of clock tower

14: off we go around Prague

15: we visit the old Jewish quarter

16: We board the Katharina von Bora and start our journey down the Elbe | through the Saxony area of Germany

17: look out at Bastei | Margret passes on river boat!

18: beautiful limestone formations of Bastei | Juergen waves from above | Fort Bridge

19: tired climber!

22: we arrive in Dresden | Semper opera | panthers

25: the Blue Wonder, spans Elbe without supports in water | coffee at the over look

26: Our last morning in Dresden Juergen and I head off to explore once more | view from the Augustus Bridge Schlossplatz and Court Church | Catholic Court Church with Augustus the strong

27: We walk back to the river boat | view from Bruhl terrace

28: As we leave, our boat sails past Dresden

29: We arrive in Meissen, famous for porcelain

32: Our beautiful room on board | And here in Wittenburg is Katharina von Bora, wife of Martin Luther, for whom our boat is named

34: we visit the Martin Luther house

35: two happy travelers | the famous church door

36: walking through Wittenberg we also pass the house of artist, before we arrive at the castle church | famous artist, Cranach

37: back on the ship we gather with Bruno, Frau Weiller, moi, Erika, Margret, Juergen and Krista, (Fritz above!)

38: Magdeburg | Hundertwasserhaus "Grune Zitadelle"

39: we walk to the Gothic Dom in Magdeburg | and back to river boat

40: Our time on the river boat comes to an end | a river goes over the Elbe!! Magdeburg water bridge | a farewell with ship's officers

41: we disembark in Potsdam and visit Frederick the Great's Summer Palace, Sans Souci | the terraces in front of the palace with formal gardens

42: Where Truman, Stalin and Churchill divided Germany

43: Piet, Catrin, Philip and Mattes' house Top two floors on left!! | We arrive in Berlin

44: happy times with family in Berlin

45: a scenic ride on the Spree River, by old and new Berlin

46: The new Capitol Building

47: The Reichstag, or old Capitol Building

48: Juergen and Elke in front of the Berlin Cathedral | checkpoint Charlie | museum

49: Brandenburg Gate | we visit the museum | Gendarmenmarkt

50: the boys tree house, and view of the front yard from the top!! | Catrin takes a turn in the kitchen

51: views of some saved pieces of the Berlin Wall 1961-1989 | and not too far from our hotel is the famous avenue, Unter den Linden | Erika and Juergen take a rest

52: we take an afternoon trip to Koepenick | a tale of a common man who masqueraded as a general to gain respect | the boys also have fun!! | Mattes, cousin Max, "the general" and Philip
