1: The very first street cars! | The very first street cars were an improvement of what was called an omnibus, both were pulled by horse, but the street car rolled along special steel rails that were placed in the middle of the streets and could hold more passengers. The first street car was put to use in 1832 along Bowery Street in New York.

2: San Francisco's first cable cars were invented by Andrew Hallidie in 1873.

3: Many cities throughout America turned to street cars for city wide transportation, | New Orleans

4: Street cars were very convenient to us people in the sense of not having to walk up hill.

5: Street cars began with having just the braking and gripping mechanisms, as well as a passenger trailer. (Only one truck each)

6: The first street cars invented consisted mainly of a single to two colors, usually including orange.

7: San Francisco's street cars usually had a few wooden benches to seat people, as well as poles to hang on to.

8: Transportation since, has changed immensely, cable cars are still used in certain cities, but buses have been widely popular as well.

9: Modern day cable cars are still put to use, and are much more advanced.
