BC: Kimball Brown & Emily Morgan Thank you for reading our mixbook!!!!
FC: Cell Project By: Emily Morgan & Kimball Brown
Cell Theory | there are 3 parts to the cell theory 1. all cells can only come from preexisting cells. 2. the cell is the basic unit of life. 3. all living things are composed of cells. (either unicellular or multicellular) | A Human Cell
The Four Scientists | Theodore Schwann- he discovered that animals are made of cells. Matthias J. Schleiden- all plants are made of cells. Rudolf Virchow- all living things are composed of cells. all cells come from cells. Robert Hooke- he named cells there name 'cells'.
Prokaryotic | *THEY ARE ONE CELLED ORGANISMS *THAT HAVE NO MEMBRANE BOUND NUCLEUS *THEY CAN BE SEEN UNDER A MICROSCOPE *THEY DON'T HAVE CHROMOSOMAL DNA *THEY'RE SHAPES ARE, ROD, SPHERICQAL, AND SPIRAL SHAPED *THEY DIVIDE BY BINARY FISSION
 EXAMPLES: BACTERIA CYAN BACTERIA
EUKARYOTIC CELLS | * THEY ARE MULTICELLULAR ORGANISMS * THEY HAVE A MEMBRANE BOUND NUCLEUS. * CONTAIN MANY MEMBRANE BOUND ORGANELLES
EXAMPLES: FUNGI PLANTS ANIMALS | These cells are found in organisms like this | Flower | Owl
PLANTS | THEY ARE EUKARYOTIC CELLS. THE SHAPE OF A PLANT CELL IS SQUARE IT HAS A CENTRAL VACUOLE. SINCE THEY ARE PRODUCERS THEY HAVE CHLOROPLASTS. THEY HAVE A CELL WALL | the tree is made up of plant cells.
ANIMALS | ANIMAL CELLS ARE EUKARYOTIC CELLS. THE SHAPE OF AN ANIMAL CELL IS CIRCULAR. ANIMAL CELLS HAVE A ONE OR MORE SMALL VACUOLE. THEY DON'T HAVE A CELL WALL. | Animals such as this bird have animal cells
CELL STRUCTURES | Nucleus: found in plant and animal cells- it is a membrane enclosed organelle that holds most of the genetic information of that cell. | Central Vacuole: found in plant cells only- used to help remove cellular waste and holds water for the plant cell | Mitochondria: found in plant and animal cells- are the cell's power producer, they turn the energy into usable power for the cell | Nucleolus: found in plant and animal cell-it produces ribosomes which move to the rough endoplasmic rectum.
Golgi Apparatus: found in plant and animal cells- it serves as the packaging and distribution center of the cell | Chloroplasts: found in plant cells only- it turns the sunlight into energy for the plant | Rough Endoplasmic Rectum: move protein's through the cell which is attached with ribosomes | Lysosomes: found in animal cell only-break down cellular waste products | Chromatin: found in plant cell only- it packages the DNA found in plant cells | cell wall: found in only plant cells. provides structure for the plant cell.
cell membrane | * it is the thing that lets everything in or out of the cell. * it is made up of proteins.
Homeostasis | * The ability of the body or a cell to seek and maintain a condition of stability within its internal environment when having external changes.
