S: Joanne & Tony's Wedding Day
BC: Joanne and Tony
FC: I DO | Mr. and Mrs. Rosentreter
 THE WEDDING OF | Joanne Darlene Peterson | Anthony John Rosentreter | & | June 4, 2011 | . . . . . . . . . . . .
The year before Joanne began dating Tony, she went to a BBQ Days event at her friend, Nancy's. She was sitting down watching the parade when a hand reached for hers to help her up. She thought it was the nicest hand she ever felt and it was Tony's. A year later, while she was getting ready for the annual BBQ Days celebration, her alarm clock went off unexpectedly. She thought maybe that was a sign something good was about to happen. That was the night she and Tony began talking. At first, Joanne didn't think she wanted to go out because our mom recently had a stroke; however, her sisters encouraged her to go and said they would watch out for mother.
After the event, Joanne waited for Tony to call...and waited some more. Since she didn't think a call was going to happen, she took her cat, Huey, into the bathroom for a steam bath to help him with his upper respiratory infection. Afterwards, she checked her phone for messages and saw that Tony had left her one and was asking if she was busy! At that moment, Joanne realized she didn't know how to text! She managed, though, to send him a message saying she was not busy and to give her a call. He did, and they talked all night. They were now a couple.
St. Mark’s Catholic Church is a German Gothic Church built in 1865. Tony made his First Communion and Confirmation here. It was just the style of church that Joanne and Tony wanted to be married in and it was outstandingly beautiful.
Rev. Tim Norris married Joanne and Tony.
Cath, Julie and I had so much fun driving to Shakopee to decorate the hall for the reception. I knew I was lost, though, when I saw a sign for New Prague! It was a beautiful warm evening and we had the windows rolled down, and talked and laughed a lot as we drove along the country roads.
When Cath saw Joanie's jeans, she thought they were a size 2! Then she said she would be lucky if she could get them over her knees! I knew how she felt (sigh). Lucky Joanie! Cath thinks she looks like Ava Gardner. I guess there are worse things than being told you look like a movie star! By the way, Mom thinks Joanie is much prettier than Ava was!
Many of us met in the parking lot at the same time and it was so wonderfully exciting. Everyone seemed more happy than nervous...even Kathy, who was the vocalist.
Joanie's maid-of-honor, Denise, and bridesmaids, Lorraine and Lisa, were there to help with lip gloss or whatever was needed. | When Cathy heard Joanie is critical of her pictures, she said, "Ha! That isn't worthy of a comment!"
It was like a party getting ready for the wedding and time went so fast.
I love the softness and elegance of these pictures.
Mom and Kathy said whenever they thought of the wedding they felt a jolt of excitement and fear! The wedding day was coming up fast and they wanted everything to be just right.
LOVE | Talk about love. I brought one Pepsi with me and Joanie wanted it. Reluctantly, I gave it to her because, after all, she was the bride. | The youngest and the oldest.
The wedding ceremony is about to begin!
Once, Joanie told me Tony could make her laugh like no one else could, and I believe it. He has a great sense of humor.
My mom told me when she was dating our dad that she would come home with her sides aching from laughing so hard. A great sense of humor is no small thing.
A day to remember | I, Anthony, take you Joanne, for my lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part. I, Joanne, take you Anthony, for my lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.
You have declared your consent before the Church. May the Lord in his goodness strengthen your consent and fill you both with his blessings. What God has joined, men must not divide. Amen.
On Joanne's birthday, Tony made her a nice dinner and a cake. Afterwards, he said he wanted to make their relationship permanent and got down on one knee and proposed. He even called our mom to be sure he had her approval.
 Fun Family One
 Fun Family Two
After the wedding, Grace saw all the people congratulating Joanne and Tony and asked if they were all her relatives. I said, "They are now, Grace. They are now!"
I love you with all my heart.
A guest, who owns a Subway store, said the pork was so good it didn't even need BBQ sauce. To date, I have never had such good food at a reception. | Menu Pulled Pork on Buns Cheesy Potatoes Calico Beans Coleslaw Mango Slices (extremely good mango slices)
Joanie's wedding dress was beautiful, yet it looked so delicate. I cringed when she asked me to help her fasten the pearl strands across the back of the dress and accidentally snapped a strand! The pearls were bouncing all over the dressing room floor and I couldn't pick them up fast enough. Joanie was as cool as could be and I told her she was handling the situation amazingly well. She said all she wanted was the man. Funny, I said the same thing about Peter on our wedding day. | Denise said she was thrilled to be Joanie's maid-of-honor. All the guests there seemed to be having a wonderful time and were so, so happy for Joanne and Tony.
The wedding cake was chocolate with white frosting.
Julie and Mike celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary the month before Joanie and Tony were married. The necklace Julie is wearing was an anniversary gift from Mike.
You can always count on our cousin, Barb, to come through when help is needed. When she heard Joanie was getting married, she offered to call her sister, Kathy, who used to work in catering to cut the cake. Kathy was happy to, however could not attend the wedding at the last minute. I asked Barb if we could somehow cut the cake together. She said, "no problem!". She would get instructions from Kathy, and we could bring our own serving utensils. When it was time to cut the cake, we both opened our purses at the same time and lifted out these cake cutters! Everyone at the nearby table laughed and someone said, "Are we on Let's Make a Deal?" Before we sliced the cake, Barb asked Joanie & Tony if they wanted to save the top layer for their First Wedding Anniversary. Tony, very logically, asked what the cake would taste like a year later and she truthfully told him it would not taste good. So, Tony told us to go ahead and cut all the layers, and boy, did we! By the time we finished there were only a few crumbs left...which we ate. Every crumb was delicious! ** Julie bought the cutest tablecloth with a wedding cake pattern and thought to place little bouquets at intervals along the head table.
Joanie, in writing, I have to admit I was wrong about the veil that came with your dress. Love, Jeanne
Love and Happiness Always, Mother | Sometimes it is so very hard To find that certain one! The one that makes you glad you're you, Who's honest, loyal and fun! But God, who knows the hearts of all, Knows how to attract The perfect two to fall in love And you know that's a fact! Or otherwise you wouldn't be As happy as you are, No problem seeming too, too big, Nor distance too, too far! Everyone is oh, so glad Your wedding's drawing near. We can almost hear the bells And very, very clear! May God, the Source of all true love Help you walk His way And make you happy to look back On this, your Wedding Day! | To Joanne and Tony
It was a fine, fine day.
