FC: Career Pathways 2010 by Stephanie Prosser
Career Pathways | We are a group of high school students that do community service and help others.
Filled with lot of little puppies and fish | I work in a place called Happy Tails
While I'm at Happy Tails the rest of the group is at The Glen doing their work and helping the elderly.
On Thursdays the whole group finally gets together. We work at the Salvation Army where we help the workers there. We like doing our own little shopping as well. It is a lot of hard work , getting the right color tagged clothes and taking them off the hanger and putting them into a cart. Then we put them into a bin that goes into a truck to take them away. Sometimes we get the bins so filled, to a point where we are no longer able to put in anymore, until the truck gets there. While we wait for the truck to arrive, we look and see if there are any empty hangers. We put those in other bins or look for clothes that are on the ground and put the clothes on the empty hangers.
Now for Fridays, again the group is together. We are always doing something completely different. We have gone to so many places that I can't even name half of them at the moment. They have been so much fun, not to just play, but also to learn as well. For example, at the bead works shop we made necklaces; we have gone to A.C.C.; we have also gone to the Chapman Museum and the Y.M.C.A. Now that was really fun. We also made a quilt for the West Glens Falls Emergency Squad. All in all, it's always interesting on Fridays.
The group we have is rather small but together we always have a blast somehow. | kyle | Matt
 katie | Justin | Stephanie
Then we have our two supervisors Mrs. Consolagio and Mrs. Podres
We are a group of people that helps others such as the Salvation Army, and we fill boxes for the seamen and much more.
Now i will say of what i have learned in Career Pathways and the experiences I have learned. I have learned how to keep myself busy on the job along with following the dress code and so on. I have experienced things that a normal worker would have to do in the real world. There have been times when people have interacted with me asking questions about where things are and such. I answered some questions, but others i was in need of help for not knowing the answer. at both Happy Tails and the Salvation Army. | Though I have learned how to get a job by applying and get myself a good image and such. I have also learned how to not get fired and how to keep a job by the work book we have used during Career Pathways. The name of the work book is Don't Get Fired. Since I'm graduating this year I know that what i have learned from Career Pathways will carry on into my work life and help me get through it.
