Thank you Randy, for guiding us through the uncharted waters that made up our educational and social growth this year. Across still waters. Through rising and ebbing tides. Under brilliant sun, or the gray rain of the Puget Sound winters. You provided a steady helm and a sure course. We appreciate it very much. -The students and parents of your 2010-2011 fourth grade class. Ben Brown, Ben Sanders, Brook Rose Franklin, Chloe Vrijmoet, Conor Brennan, Dylan Clark, Eleanor Cannon, Frances Thyer, Griffin Almquist, Isabelle Tarbox, James Garvey, Jessica Jasso Cabana, John Higley, Mason Austin, Max Sorenson, Shilpa Srinivasan, Sierra Bradford, Sydney Armstrong, Trevor Dunnigan, Vera Panescu-Reich

Punctuation Math Listening Determination How Randy Helped Me Navigate through the Waterways of Fourth Grade Randy helped my journey through Fourth Grade with encouragement and by teaching me new things. When I sailed North my punctuation improved when Randy marked all the mistakes I made on my spelling papers. While sailing east he reminded me not to talk so much in class, so I taught myself self-discipline and now I am better at listening to others. Going west, he helped with my math by showing me new special techniques that are faster than the ones I had learned before. Finally, Randy taught me determination: to keep on going no matter what obstacles are in the way. For example, algebra was really hard for me but when I worked and worked to figure out the answers, I was really proud of myself that I didn’t give up. Overall, I have definitely grown as a person being in Randy’s fourth grade class. -Dylan

Randy helped me float towards learning about Lewis and Clark. Is that the only thing he helped you with? No, but that’s what I want to say. -Chloe | Randy helped me be more careful, especially in my handwriting. Thanks Randy ! -James | Randy helped me to become a better mathematician by showing me step by step with math problems when I had difficulties. That helps me to help other people when they had difficulties with the same problems. He helped me become more helpful! Thank you Randy. -Mason Austin | Randy helped me navigate the treacherous waters of 4th grade :) especially math! -Sydney | Randy has improved me by teaching me lots of things. He organized a boat trip in the Puget Sound and I learned that you can see some Plankton with your bare eyes! -John

Randy helped me a lot when I didn’t know how to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators. Now I really understand how to do it. Another thing Randy helped me with was decimals. Before, I did not know anything about decimals. Now, I do because of Randy’s help. Randy is a very good teacher because he made me feel welcome and helped me to understand math. Thanks Randy! -Shilpa

Randy has helped my map out my math, by supporting me in writing down my results. I discovered that if they were wrong, I will not die! -Vera | One achievement Randy helped me discover was Power Point. I had never used Power Point before 4th grade. This year I learned who to use the program, and I gave a Power Point presentation for my Service Learning Project. -Conor | Randy helped me achieve knowledge about the world, particularly world religions. Randy also encouraged me as a writer by giving me confidence about my writing ability. -Eleanor | Randy helps me a lot in Math by helping me with areas of shapes like parallelograms.-Trevor | One academic goal Randy helped me achieve or improve on this year is Math.I feel that Randy has really encouraged me, and I am a better Math student. A personal goal that Randy helped me improve on is standing up for myself. I have more confidence because of Randy. -Frances | One destination Randy helped me navigate and grow in was to explore and enjoy math. I was struggling with long division at first but Randy helped me work through it with patience and strategies and that helped me not be afraid of long division problems. -Max

I think Randy was a great teacher. He taught me decimals, which I find very helpful. I am very concerned with my money and if I need to count my money quickly, then that could come in handy. Also, I have noticed he has been wearing this new pink belt and I think it is cool that he is a daring person. He helped me with my paper work. I don't like to proofread, he helps me with that. -Isabelle
