2: SENIOR MUSIC MEMORIES Class of 2012 | Mikaylah Levenson My favorite music memories are getting up at 5:30 in the morning so I can play trumpet with Hannah Tudzin or hiccuping in the middle of the Maestoso performance in Washington D.C. University of Colorado at Boulder to major in History with the intent to become a high school history teacher. | Alayna Zak My favorite music memory would have to be the Hidden Hills Fiesta of my junior year... when it quite literally rained on our parade. My plan is to go to community college this fall & one day transfer to 4 yr university. My goal is to major in either (or both) music composition & game design. | Michael Aspinwall My favorite CHS music memories are going to the Essentially Ellington Festival in New York with the Jazz A Band, & playing in a jazz quartet with Simon, Brian & Leo. UCLA, majoring in Music Composition
3: Music is the voice that tells us that the human race is greater than it knows. | I | Morey Spellman My favorite music memory was the awards banquet at the Heritage Festival in Washington D.C. UCSB undeclared Major. | Michael Graham My favorite music memory was playing the Star Spangled Banner. I will be attending the University of Oregon in Eugene. I will be marching in their band & studying business. SKOO DUCKS. | Alex Bell My favorite music memory has to be the time our choir went to Long Beach for a choir festival, and we were on the Queen Mary. My friends & I wandered around & got completely lost & even thought we heard ghosts! I will be attending UC Santa Cruz. My major is undeclared, but I would love to study in the field of medicine or teaching. | Romy Winnett My favorite Music Memory is the entire Washington D.C. trip as a whole. It was the combination of the delayed connection flights, trips to the Smithsonian, clinics in Lincoln's church, monster haired roommates, disappearing blue ink, the school spirit at the awards ceremony, the singing on the way back, and the friendships bonded that made the trip truly unforgettable. I will be attending Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo
4: Madison Shubert Favorite music memory: Constantly getting caught doing the weirdest things by Mr. Barroll. UC Davis, majoring in Animal Science going Pre-Vet to be a veterinarian. | Aleah Snider My Favorite music memory was meeting the acapella group Pitch Slapped. LA Music Academy Vocal Performance & Song Writing | Christina Lawson I think my favorite CHS music moment for me would be when we went to D.C. & we were at the Awards Ceremony Banquet & our names were called to accept an award. All of CHS stood up & clapped for one another. I really felt like we were family (no matter how cheesy it sounds) it's true. Also, I felt like all 4 years of choir paid off & I was just extremely proud. I will be attending SMC for 2 years & hopefully transferring to UCLA, hopefully majoring in journalism/photography, | Stephanie Marks My favorite music memory has definitely been throughout my four years. I have made friends that will last a life time and I have accomplished so much. In the fall, I will be attending Berklee College of Music and majoring in vocal performance.
5: Dillon Greene My favorite music memory was when on my sophomore year band trip, me. Barroll, Max, Asher & Darron sat down outside the fish market in Seattle & ate crab legs on the street & had a good time. \ I will be attending UCLA | Max Aveis My favorite music memory is when I received my first time-out in 18 years. Having a great time in D.C., I had a hard time controlling my language, leading Mr. Barroll & Mr. Kohen to overhear me dropping an F-bomb. I was, therefore, sentenced to 20 mins of solitary confinement outside the restaurant while everyone else was talking with their friends. It was surprisingly entertaining. I will be attending the University of Michigan to study Bassoon Performance & Biology. | Asher Kunin My favorite CHS music program event was when our Wind Ensemble & Choir classes traveled to Seattle, Washington. The weather, people & music were all perfect. The highlight of that trip was when my friends, Mr. Barroll & I ate crab legs in the streets of Pike Place Market. It was an incredible bonding experience, one which I will never forget.
6: Noah Davidson My favorite music memory is when I went with the Jazz A Band to Savannah, Georgia. It was an experience I will never forget | Ethyn Samuels My favorite memory is from LAAF. Being on the stage at UCLA was a really amazing experience & meeting Pentatonix was pretty cool. too I hold close these experiences & all the people involved. I will be attending Tulane University, Double Major: Business Management & Political Science. | Gina Goldberg My favorite choir memory was when we went to the Queen Mary and had a dance party. I am not sure which university I am attending yet, but I will major in economics. | Austin Miller My favorite music memory was going to D.C. & performing with my group. Maestoso at an old Church. It was a very special experience, one that I will always remember. I will be attending University of Colorado, Boulder in the Fall of 2012.
7: Lily Kim My favorite music memory is when Cooper & i went up to get our awards at the Heritage Music Festival Award Ceremony-a lot of other groups were getting their awards & we were getting really insecure & scared that we wouldn't receive anything & then they called CHS Orchestra for GOLD 1st and I got super excited. I will be attendingBerkeley | Li Ying Chen My favorite memories include the D.C. trip, the Chinese Choir, and all the concerts, laugh out loud moments in class & most of all performing with my awesome flute family. I will miss everyone in Wind Ensemble so much. I will be attending UCLA in the fall as a psychobiology major. | David Amberg Over the years, I've gained a ton of great memories from being a part of the Calabasas music program, so it's been pretty hard to pick a favorite. Every day =in choir has always brought something me, something unexpected, and most importantly, something fun in my life. My favorite memory from choir hasn't really been a single event, but more like all of my experiences in singing with others, through something greater than myself, combined. Over the years, music has helped turn me from an empty shell of a little kid into, well, a real living, breathing person. Music, especially singing, is the center of my life, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. Here's to hoping for the best. I will be attending George Washington University Voice/Music Composition | James Martinez My favorite music memory from high school is playing "Willow Weep for Me in Reno with Black Band. In the fall of 2012 I will be attending Moorpark College & participating in an internship at Infinity PrecisionEngineering.
8: Elena Contis \There are far too many memories & experiences throughout my 4 years that the music program has blessed me with, so here are just a few: Traveling to the rainy city & our nations capital, getting the feeling after performing well (or not), Barroll stories in Vivace, becoming CIF champions with varsity choir, getting my first solo in Bare Rhythm, getting my fair share of yells from Barroll, becoming director of Bare Rhythm, and most of all experiencing all of these times with amazing people I will never forget. I will be attending the University of Michigan & plan on pursuing business. I intend to keep music a big aspect of my life while in college & for the rest of my life. | Andy Dubick My favorite music memory was traveling to Savannah, GA in the jazz band to perform in the Swing Central competition. It was really fun to have clinics with famous jazz musicians & perform across the country. I will be going to NYU in the fall & major in drama. | Michael Lewis Seeing my name on the Unstrumental 2010-2011 list is my favorite music memory. I shouted and screamed. And then I laughed at Ally Bernstein because she was crying for Joy. I will be attending University of Pennsylvania
9: Nick Rosario One of my favorite memories of being a 3 year Jazz A trombone player was seeing my picture on the front page of the Daily News. I'll be duel majoring in jazz trombone & anthropology at either at Cal State East Bay or Philadelphia's Temple University. | Dakota Denis My favorite music memory was my very first show this year. It was a whole new experience for me and I loved every second. In fall 2012 I will be in Santa Monica College working towards the rest of my life. I will be working towards becoming either a game designer or a short film creator, or maybe both. I'm going to shoot for as much as I possibly can. | Kennedy Lynn My favorite music memory is getting to be in Harmony this year with all of my best friends. I love that one of my first things I do in the morning is sing with a group of incredible women. I will be attending California University of Pennsylvania & my intended major is forensic science. | Amber Kolb My favorite memory was when I went on the trip to DC this past year with Wind Ensemble. I had so much fun with my friends. Music is a big part of my life & I appreciate my parents for paying for lessons every week for the past 11 years. I will always continue to play music. I plan to attend CSUN for 2 yrs & then transfer to SDSU to major in Marine Biology.
10: Kate Heidenreich My favorite music memory is when performed with Eric Whitacre. I will be attending Auburn University with a major in Animal Science. | John Sawicki My favorite music memories are sharing my original songs with Tod and the band. I will be going to a university in the fall (not sure which one yet) to pursue Psychology. | Henry Vaughn One of my favorite memories is the trip to Savannah with the A Band last year. I went to CHS for the music program, and I am glad that i did. I will be attending NYU in the fall as a jazz studies major. | Kate Mishkin My favorite music memory was learning something new every day. I will be attending Knox College in the fall.
11: Zack Heidenreich My favorite memory in choir has to be all the great & new people I have met over the four years. I also remember all the fun times I had with my friends. I am going to attend Cal State Northridge and I am going in as undecided. | Jared Shull I will never forget all of the days at lunch my freshman & sophomore years that Michael Aspinwall, Jessica Lipstone, and I spent working on the Ewazen Trio for Flute, Horn & Piano. Playing music with them definitely has been one of my ten musical experiences. The music was challenging, we all were dedicated, and although we only ended up performing one movement of the piece, I still have incredibly fond memories of the entire rehearsal process. I remember first looking at the piece & thinking to myself, "I'm actually going to have to practice this. I can't wait... Even years later, from time to time the elegant pastoral melodies will wander into my subconscious & remind me of the wonderful time I spent playing music with friends. I will be attending Rice University in the Fall and will be majoring in Bioengineering. | Darren May My favorite music memory was in Seattle when we went to the Marriage of Figaro. The preparation that we had done as a class beforehand allowed me to understand the nuances of the opera & appreciate the musical genius that went into the production. I will be studying in Yeshivas Bais Yisroel in Jerusalem, Israel. I will be engaged in Jewish Studies, and an in-depth study of Hebrew & Aramaic. | Michael Tsang My favorite memory was going to Savannah for the Swing Central Competition. I am going to be attending UCSB in the fall of 2012 as an electrical engineering major
