Oct 2014: Bumblebee looks blue on the huge sunflower, left: the cellophane-like wings reflect the blue sky above at sundown. Meanwhile, the neighbor whose sunflower-filled yard bumble visits gives a hand. | Text & Photos by Karen Camloh

Jun 2014: "Backyard bird" isn't generally applicable to the Heron, but it is the 2nd consecutive year one has taken a rooftop-rest on the barn behind the yard. It's likely the same visitor who surprised me in June of last year. | Text & Photos by Karen Camloh

May 2014: MAY | 1 | 2 | 3 | 5 | 4 | 8 | 7 | 6 | 10 | 9 | 15 | 11 | 12 | 13 | 14 | 16 | 17 | 22 | 18 | 19 | 20 | 21 | 23 | 24 | 25 | 26 | 27 | 28 | 29 | 30 | 31

May 2014: Chickadee makes a splash at the watering hole. | A startling discovery on a plant's freshly-trimmed leaves: I'd never seen a red-and-white-striped spider. When the leaf was moved away from the plant and into the sun, the spider immediately jumped into action to protect its egg sac from the burning light of the sun and move it to a safer place. The leaf was subsequently moved outside the garden, into a shady, weedy area. | Text & Photos by Karen Camloh
