3: Robert Hooke described what he called a honeycomb-like network of something called a cellulite. it looked like a cork slice using his microscope.he used a the term cells to described units in plants tissues(thick cell walls could be observed). he only saw the cell wall because cork cells are dead and without protoplasm. he drew the cells and came up with the word cells.
5: Mattias Jakob schleiden, a German botanist, conclude that all plants tissue are made up of cells and that an embryonic plant arose from a single cell.he said that the cell building block of all plant matter. this statement of schleiden was first generalization concerned cells.he realized that plants were made up of recognizable units, or cells. he thought the production of new cells, which he studied where propagated from the nuclei of old cells. he was wrong about the role of the nucleus in mitosis, or cell division. A year later schleiden published his cell theory on plants, his friend schwann extended it to animals, thereby bringing botany and zoology together under use unifying theory.
7: Theodor Schwann, a German biologist, reached the same conclusion as Schleiden about animal tissue being composed of cells, he noticed that animal and plant cells are completely different. He descried cellular strucures in animal cartilage. he turned his observations together into one theory which stated: cells are organisms and all organisms consist of one or more cells. the cell the basic unit of structure for all organisms and that plats and animals consist of combinations of these organisms which are arranged accordance with definite rules. the cell is the basic unit of life. this statement became know as the cell theory.
9: Rudolf Virchow studied cell division he was the German physiologist, pathologist, and anthropologist. He was able to add a third tenet to the cell theory: all cells develop only from existing cells. he was the first to demonstrate that the cell theory applied to diseased and healthy tissue that diseased cell derive from the healthy cells of normal tissue.
