2: Nebula | 2 | When a star is born, they are at their first stage in life called the nebula. A star is a ball of gas when it is born. Stars are spheres. Stars turn into a sphere because the gravity from space pulls the gas and dust together to create a sphere. When a star becomes closer packed, it gets warmer, and the hydrogen becomes helium. That process is called the nuclear fusion.

4: Main Sequence | When a star is in its main-sequence stage, the star is about to enter the longest stage from its life cycle. When the stars are in this main-sequence stage, at the core, energy gets generated. Meanwhile, the hydrogen atoms turn into helium atoms. When the stars are going through this process, it releases a whole bunch of energy. The main-sequence star's size doesn't change that much as long as it keeps continuing to get a supply of hydrogen atoms that will eventually turn into helium atoms.

6: Giants and Supergiants | The giants and supergiants stage is the star's third stage in its complete life cycle. There is a red giant star that can expand, and it also cools when it uses all of its hydrogen up. When the star uses a lot of hydrogen, the center of the star starts to shrink. While the center of the star is shrinking, the atmosphere of the star becomes very big as it cools. After that, it starts to transform into a red giant or a red supergiant. Red giants can go up to 10 times larger than the sun. When a star becomes a supergiant, it can be up to 100 times bigger than the sun.

8: White Dwarf | In the final stage of life, stars become white dwarfs. When they are in this stage, they become the same size as the sun, or even smaller. That is when they become classified under a white dwarf. It is a small hot dim star that is the leftover center from an older star. They have no hydrogen left in them, and they can't generate energy by turning hydrogen atoms to helium atoms. Even though they are at their last stage in life, they still can shine for billions of years before they cool off all the way.
