3: Elephant Stew I medium sized elephant salt to taste 2 rabbits, optional In a very, very large stew pot cut the elephant into small bite-size pieces This should take about two months Add enough brown gravy to cover Cook over a kerosene fire about four weeks at 465 degrees This will serve at least 3,800 folks but if more are expected the two rabbits may be added but only if necessary as most people do not like hare in their stew

7: 7 Up Biscuits 2 C Bisquick 1/2 C sour cream 1/2 C 7 Up 3 T Melted butter Cut sour cream into bisquick, add 7 Up Sprinkle additional bisquick on board and pat dough into a 9' square shape Cut dough into 9 squares Spread 2T melted butter in 9" square pan Place cut biscuits in pan Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes Brush top of biscuits with remaining 1T melted butter | Spinach Salad 1 head lettuce 1# frozen spinach (I use a bunch) 1 10 oz pkg frozen peas 1 bunch green onions 6 hard cooked eggs, chopped 1# bacon, fried and crumbled Layer these in order given Dressing 1 quart pkg Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing 1 C Hellman's Mayonnaise 1 C sour cream Mix all together, spread on top above salad Cover and refrigerate overnight (Do not toss until right before serving) (by Brenda Barthelme)

9: Orange Peel Bread 1 C orange peel 1 egg water 2 C milk 1 3/4 C sugar 4 C flour 1 T butter 4 tsp baking powder 1/8 tsp salt Cut yellow part of orange peel in small pieces, discarding white part. Cover with water, cook until tender. Add 1 c sugar, boil to sirup. Cream butter, with remaining sugar, add egg, milk and flour mixed with baking powder and salt. Beat well, add orange peel, put in 2 buttered bread pans. Let stand 20 minutes. Bake 40-50 minutes at 325 degrees. (from The Boston Cooking School Cook Book, 1942 edition)

25: Cherry Danish Dessert 2 8oz cans crescent rolls 2 8oz pkg. cream cheese, softened 1 1/2 C powdered sugar 1 egg white 1 tsp vanilla 1 20oz can cherry pie filling 1 T milk Heat oven to 350 degrees Unroll 1 can crescent rolls into 2 rectangles; press into a cooking sprayed 9x13 pan, firmly pressing perforations and seams together to seal. Beat cream cheese, 3/4 c sugar, egg white and vanilla until well blended; spread onto crust. Cover with pie filling. Unroll remaining can of crescents; separate into 2 rectangles; patting out to form a 9x13 rectangle, pressing seams and perforations together to seal; place over pie filling. Bake 25-30 minutes, until golden brown; cool slightly. Gradually add milk to remaining sugar, whisking until well blended; drizzle over dessert.

29: "I DON'T COOK" LEMONADE PIE 4 C vanilla ice cream, softened 6 oz can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed 1 9" graham cracker crust In medium bowl, mix ice cream and lemonade concentrate until blended Immediately spoon onto crust Freeze 4 hours Let stand at room temperature 10 minutes before serving for ease of cutting | "Let's order pizza" | CHERRY DELIGHT 1 can Cherry pie filling 1 16 oz can crushed pineapple, drained 2 cans mandarin oranges, drained 1 can Eagle brand milk 1 C coarsely chopped pecans 1 large container Cool Whip Mix first five ingredients together fold in Cool Whip and mix thoroughly Pour into 9x13 dish and refrigerate (by Brenda Penka)

"all manner of spices") 1 tsp baking powder (Amos 4:5..."of that which is leavened") 3 large eggs (Isaiah 10:14..."one gathereth eggs") 1 C sugar (Jeremiah 6:20..."and the sweet cane") 1/2 C vegetable oil (Numbers 11:8..."cake baked with oil") 1 T honey (Judges 14:18..."what is sweeter than honey") ***Preheat oven to 325 degrees*** In a medium bowl combine raisins, dates, figs and almonds. Set aside. In a large bowl, beat eggs until light. Gradually add sugar and continue beating for 5 minutes. Add oil and honey slowly and continue beating another 5 minutes. Add flour, salt, baking powder and spices, a little at a time until well blended. Fold in the fruit and nuts. Pour into well-greased 5x9 loaf pan. Bake about 1 1/2 hours. Let cool for a few hours, then slice with a sharp knife. Keeps well in refrigerator.

This is important because Faith without Works is like dead yeast, it will be inactive and not produce Life. 3) Then add marinated or tenderized tongue (3:17) 4) Strain out any Selfishness floating to the top (4:10) 5) Wait Patiently, basting all the while with Prayer (5:8)

37: (from an 1879 McGuffey's Reader) | 'An Apple For Teacher' Pie (aka: Brown Bag Pie) 1/2 C sugar, 2 T flour, 3/4 tsp cinnamon 6 medium baking apples, peeled & sliced 1 9" pie crust, unbaked 1/2 C butter, melted, 1/2 C sugar, 1/2 C flour Mix 1/2 c sugar, 2 T flour and cinnamon together and toss with apples...heap into pie crust Combine butter, 1/2 c sugar, 1/2 c flour to make a fine paste, spread paste over apples, coating evenly Place pie in brown paper bag, close securely with paper clips Place pie in center of oven taking care that the paper bag does not come in contact with any interior oven surface Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 1 hour When pie is done, cut away the bag (Recipe courtesy of The Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten)

41: Sunflower Seed Cookies 1 C butter, 1 C packed brown sugar, 1 C sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 1/2 C unsifted flour, 1 tsp soda, 3 C oatmeal, 1 C sunflower seeds, 1/2 c raisins Thoroughly cream butter and sugars, add eggs and vanilla; blend well. Thoroughly mix in flour, soda & oatmeal. Gently blend in sunflower seeds and raisins. Bake at 350 degrees on ungreased baking sheet for 10 minutes
