1: This was made to help you remember the dishes you have had growing up. I hope you will treasure them always!
2: Mom | Breadstick Rolls | 1/4 c. butter 1/4 c. brown sugar 1 Tbsp. Corn Syrup 1/4 c. Chopped Pecans (optional) Put ingredients in a pan and bring to a boil. Let boil for about 1 minute. Pour into a round pie pan. Use 1 can refrigerator rolls. Dip each roll in cinnamon/sugar mixture and place in pan. Sprinkle with additional sugar mixture on top | 375 | 18 min | 4-8 | When you were little we spent summers in Red River, NM. Who knew you would both grow up to be real Jayhawks!
3: "All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast." ~John Gunther | Breakfast Casserole 10 slices bread, crust off and cubed 1 c. milk 1 lb. bulk pork sausage 1 c. light cream 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese 1 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shredded swiss cheese 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire 6 eggs, beaten 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 can sliced mushrooms Arrange layers of bread, cooled sausage, cheese and mushrooms in greased 9 x 13 pan. Combine remaining ingredients in bowl and pour over pan contents. Refrigerate overnight. Bake 350 degrees covered for 45 minutes.
4: Mom | Taco Soup | 2 lbs. hamburger 1 chopped onion 2 pkg. Ranch Dressing 2 pkg Taco Seasoning Do not drain any cans! 1- 16 oz. can each Black, Pinto, and Kidney Beans 2 cans Rotel Tomatoes 2 cans Canned Tomatoes 2 cans Corn 2 c. Water Cook on Stovetop. Serve with Corn Chips, Shredded Cheese, Sour Cream, Jalepanos, Salt and Pepper. | Simmer | 2 hours | Many | I always love to make soup on a cold, winter day!
5: White Chili 3 can of Northern Beans, undrained 4 c. chopped, cooked chicken breasts 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil 2 medium chopped onions 2- 4 oz. cans green chilies 1 tsp. Ground Cumin 1 1/2 tsp. Dried Oregano 1/4 tsp. Cayenne Pepper 2 tsp. garlic 6 c. Chicken Broth 2 c. grated Monterey Jack Cheese Heat oil in large pot over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent. Stir in garlic, chilies, cumin, oregano, and cayenne and sauté 2 more minutes. Add beans and broth. Simmer uncovered 20 minutes. Add chicken and cheese and stir until cheese melts. Serve with sour cream as garnish. Can also put in crock put on low all day.
6: Bunco Salad 1 large head of Romaine 1 lb. of bacon – Fried and crumbled 2 large avocado’s 1 small red onion 1 11 oz. can of mandarin oranges 1 can sliced water chestnuts – optional Dressing 1/2 c. vegetable oil 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1/4 c. ketchup 1 tsp. paprika 1/4 c. white wine vinegar Mix together Dressing and pour over chilled salad I love to serve this one with grilled chicken!
7: This is Bree's favorite salad. It is easy to make the dressing and keep it in the refrigerator for everyday. | Linda Worsing | Poppy Seed Salad | 1 1/2 c. Sugar 2 Tbsp Salt 3 Tbsp Onion Juice 3 Tbsp Poppy Seeds 2 tsp Dry Mustard 2/3 c. White Vinegar 2 c. Salad Oil Mix together dressing Salad Red Leaf Lettuce (1 bunch torn) Romaine Lettuce (1 bunch torn) 1 bunch green onions cut in pieces Salted peanuts or almonds Orange segments (mandarin) | Fast | 6-8
8: 1 large Philly Cream Cheese (8 oz.) 2 lbs. of Powdered Sugar 1/2 tsp. butter 1/2 tsp. peppermint flavoring Food Color Mix all ingredients, except food color, in a large bowl until creamy. Separate into smaller portions and stir in different colors. It makes a pretty plate if you use at least 2 different colors. Pinch off small piece and roll into ball. Place on wax paper and smash 2 different ways with a fork. Put in refrigerator and store covered. Grandma always did pink, green, and white. Lovely platter! | Grandma's Holiday Mints

10: Homemade Irish Cream | 1 - 1 1/4 c. Irish Whiskey (any kind) 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk 1 C. (1/2 pint) whipping cream 4 eggs 2 Tbsp. Chocolate Syrup 2 tsp. Instant coffee 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1/2 tsp. almond extract In blender, combine all ingredients. Blend until smooth. Store in tightly covered container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. Stir or shake before serving. Pour in snifter either straight or over ice. You can also use in coffee for after-dinner drink. Also good over ice cream.

12: Grandma Vinopal loves to make all of you Banana Bread. It is her most "asked for" recipe.
13: "There is no love sincerer than the love of food." ~George Bernard Shaw | Grandma Vinopal's | Banana Bread | Banana Bread 3/4 c shortening 2 tsp vanilla 3 c sugar 4 c. flour 3 eggs 3 tsp soda 6 ripe bananas (mashed) 1/2 tsp salt 12 oz sour cream Begin by creaming butter and sugar. Add eggs, bananas, sour cream and vanilla. Add salt, soda and flour. Mix together. Pour into greased loaf pans. Bake at 300 for 1 hour, 15 minutes.This freezes very well. It will make 3 to 4 loaves. | 300 degrees | 1 hour | Many
14: Lynn's Hamburger Surprise | 2 lbs Hamburger 1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup 1 Box of Velveeta Shells Brown hamburger – drain. Season with salt and pepper to taste Add Soup (do not add water) Boil shells and add cheese, then combine shells and hamburger mix. Serve | The Chef! | Lynn is a fabulous cook and truly enjoys making meals for all of us. He is well known for his steak, but has many other masterpieces he creates.
15: Rock Chalk! | Always about the Fun! | The Best Steak EVER! Brush steak with Dales Seasoning. Lightly sprinkle with garlic powder (not garlic salt) and pepper, Turn over and repeat process. Turn over one more time and repeat process a third time. Let steak marinate at least 1 hour in fridge. Cook on grill to desired finish – Medium Rare – don’t EVER cook a steak well done (if a guest asks for a well done steak, give them your shoe)!
16: Pie Crust Recipe | I have always loved to make pie. I was given this recipe and although it sounds unusual- it is Fabulous and Easy! 1 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup shortening 1/3 cup boiling water 2 cups flour Place the salt in a medium mixing bowl. Cut the shortening in to small pieces. Pour boiling water over shortening and whip with a fork until no water remains. Stir in flour just until mixed. Divide dough in half and roll out between 2 pieces of wax paper. Bake following pie directions.
17: Great Papa Sam and Papa both loved to garden. Great Papa Sam had a cherry tree and he used to send us cherries to make pies. They were the Best! He called them "churries". Papa's garden had the best veggies anywhere. Bree used to love the windmill and the mud in the garden!
19: Grilled Chicken Breasts | This is another great recipe that I also use to put on top of salad at times. I use Tyson frozen chicken breasts. 1 – 3 lb. package Marinate 1 c. oil 1 c. 7-up or clear soda 1 c. soy sauce 1tbsp. horseradish 1 tbsp. garlic powder Marinate chicken at least 2-4 hours or overnight. Grill over medium heat, turning frequently. This is really great as a meal or in pieces on a salad.
20: Bruschetta 1 c. pitted ripe olives 2 tsp. Balsamic or Red Wine Vinegar 1 tsp. Capers, drained 1 tsp. Olive Oil 2 cloves Garlic 2 Med. Tomatoes 1/3 c. sliced green onions 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil 1 tsp. dried Basil or Oregano 1/8 tsp. Pepper 1 loaf of French Bread or baguette 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil 1/2 c. Parmesan Cheese Combine olives, vinegar, capers, 1 tsp. olive oil and garlic in a food processor. Blend until smooth. Can keep up to 2 days. In a small bowl, stir together chopped tomatoes, green onion, 1 Tbsp. olive oil, Basil, and Pepper. Can keep 2 days as well. For toasts, cut bread into 1/2" slices. Brush both sides of each slice with the 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil. Bake toasts 425 degrees until light brown, turning once on baking sheet. Can store 24 hours in storage container. To assemble: spread each toast with thin layer olive paste. Add about 2 Tbsp. tomato topper, sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese. Bake 425 degree oven for 2-3 minutes or until cheese melts.. Serve warm.
21: Lisa’s Chicken Salad - Serves 12 | 6 whole cooked chicken breasts, coarsely cut 2 Tbsp Chopped Chutney 2 6oz cans Water Chestnuts, drained and sliced 2 lbs Seedless grapes, red and green 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce 2 C chopped celery 1/4 C Green onions, thinly sliced 20 oz can Pineapple chunks, very well drained 2 C Mayonnaise 2 Tbsp Lemon juice 1 Tbsp Curry powder 1 C Slivered almonds Combine all ingredients, except for almonds, and chill overnight. Sprinkle toasted almonds on top of chicken salad just before serving If you like, serve on lettuce with wedges of your favorite melon.
22: Oatmeal Raisin Cookies 1 c. butter or margarine, softened 2 c. packed brown sugar 2 eggs 3 Tbsp. lemon juice 2 c. flour 1 tsp each salt and baking soda 3 c. quick cooking rolled oats (oatmeal) 1 1/2 c. raisins 1 c. chopped walnuts (optional) In large bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy with mixer. Then beat in eggs and lemon juice. In another bowl, stir together flour, salt and baking soda. Gradually add to butter mixture. Add oats, raisins, and walnuts and stir until combined. Bake on cookie sheet in rounded teaspoonfuls at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes. Cool.
23: Pumpkin Bars | 2 c. flour 2 c. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. oil 4 eggs 1 can pumpkin Mix dry ingredients. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into a lightly greased and floured edged cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Cool and frost. Frosting: 3 oz. cream cheese 6 Tbsp. butter 1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. powdered sugar 1 Tbsp. Cream or Milk Once done, store in frig. These freeze well too!
