1: Live, love, laugh, but absolutely most of all, dance

2: Courtney Plourde | Tater Tot Casserole | 1 lb. ground beef 1 cup frozen peas 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1/2 package frozen tater tots 1-2 cans mushroom/creamy chicken soup Brown beef, add soup (not too thick or runny), spread over bottom of 13"x9" pan. Layer peas, cheese and tater tots. | 325 F | Til golden | 4-6

4: Rachael Hildebrand | Black Bean and Corn Salsa | Juice of one lime 1/4 cup mayonnaise 1 tsp ground cumin 1/2 cup quartered grape tomatoes 1/3 cup chopped red onion 1 can whole kernel corn (drained) 1 can black beans (drained) cilantro (to taste) Combine first 3 to make dressing, Add rest of ingredients and mix well. Refrigerate overnight for best results. | a party

I wasn't so bad, but I've been better Watching a movie again, and again, Mommy, please put the tape back in! Messy fingers, hair gone wild, All in the life of precious child.

6: Spinach Dip 1 pkg cream cheese 3 tbsp sour cream 2 1/2 tbsp cheez wiz Fresh chopped (or powdered) garlic to taste a few shakes of dried chili peppers 1 tbsp finely chopped red or white onion sprinkle of Italian seasoning spices 2 cups finely chopped spinach (or more if desired) 1/2 cup shredded cheese (garlic and herb if available) Blend cream cheese, sour cream and cheez wiz until smooth. Stir in onion, garlic, herbs and spices and spinach. Spread mixture into a baking dish and sprinkle cheese over top. Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes. Serve with blue corn chips.

When cooking, go by your own taste." ~Laiko Bahrs | Rachael Hildebrand | 1 large egg 3/4 cup whole fresh cilantro leaves 3/4 cup olive oil 1 tbsp minced garlic 1 tsp salt (to taste) 7 turns ground pepper Combine ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Refrigerate overnight. Spread on sandwiches or use in potato salad recipes. | Cilantro Mayonnaise

10: 1 kg beef or ham with soup bone 3 L cold water 4 cups chopped cabbage (or approx 1 head) 1 large carrot shredded 1 large onion chopped small bunch of parsley small bunch of dill 1 bay leaf salt and pepper to taste 1 can (540 ml) stewed tomatoes 2 tins concentrated tomato soup (optional) Place soup bone and water in 6 L pot. Boil for one hour. Refrigerate overnight. Skim hardened fat off the top. Add cabbage, carrot, onion, herbs and spices. Boil for another hour, adding tomatoes for the last half hour. Remove from heat and serve with buns. | Compst Borcht (cabbage soup) | Somma Borcht (summer soup) | 2 L boiling water 200-300 g smoked pork or sausage sliced 1 tbsp salt 4 cups cubed potatoes 2 cups chopped sorrel 1 cup chopped green onion 1/4 cup chopped green dill 1 tbsp fresh chopped parsley 1 bay leaf 1/2 cup heavy cream Combine boiling water and cold meat in a 4 L pot. Cool for 1/2 hour. Add salt and cubed potatoes. Bring to boil and cook for 5-10 mins. Add remaining ingredients, except heavy cream. Bring to boil and cook for 20-30 mins or until vegetables are done. Remove from heat, add cream and serve.

13: Family is like fudge - Mostly sweet, with a few nuts thrown in | Rachael Hildebrand | Sweet Marie Bars | 1 cup peanut butter 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup corn syrup 5 cups rice krispies 2 tbsp butter 1 tsp vanilla Mix peanut butter, sugar and corn syrup and heat until melted. Do not boil, Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Stir in rice krispies. Press into pan. Melt 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips with 2 tbsp peanut butter and spread over krispie mix. Refrigerate and serve or freeze. Perfect for parties or school lunches.

14: Cheesy Garlic Biscuits | 2 cups flour 1/4 cup cold shortening 1/2 tsp baking soda 2/3 cup grated cheese 2 tsp baking powder 1 1/3 cup buttermilk 1/2 tsp salt (or milk with splash of vinegar) Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Stir in cheese, add milk and mix gently with a fork until just moist. Bake for 12 minutes at 425

15: Courtney Plourde | Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad | 3 bunches of broccoli 1 head of cauliflower 3/4 cup marble cheese 1/2 red onion 3/4 of a bag of real bacon bits Sauce; 1 cup mayo 1/4 cup white vinegar 1-3 tablespoons white sugar Wash and cut vegetables, put in large bowl with cheese and bacon bits. In a separate bowl mix together sauce, then add to salad mixture. Refrigerate overnight if desired.

16: Porky Pine Balls | Meat Balls: 1 lb of Lean ground beef 1/2-3/4 cup white minute rice Minced garlic Chopped up onion Sauce: 1-2 Cans Worcherstire sauce to taste Tabasco sauce to taste Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste Combine all meat ball ingredients and roll into 1-inch meat balls, then brown in frying pan. Cover and cook through. Add sauce directly to pan. (Or put meat balls into slow cooker with sauce.) Simmer for 5-10 minutes or until sauce thickens.

19: Lisa's Sour Cream Apple Pie | 2 eggs 1 cup sour cream 1 cup sugar 6 tbsp flour (divided) 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp salt 3 cups chopped peeled apples 1-unbaked pie crust 3 tbsp butter or margarine melted 1/4 cup packed brown sugar In a large bowl beat eggs. Add sour cream, stir in sugar, 2 tbsp flour, vanilla and salt mix well. Stir in apples, pour into pie shell. Bake at 375 for 15 mins. Meanwhile, combine butter, brown sugar and remaining flour. Sprinkle over top pie and return to oven for 20-30 mins or until filling is set. Cool completely and serve, or cover and refrigerate.

21: Recipe for the Perfect Family | You will need: 1 large house 3-6 people, depending on how long you want to wait for it to be done 3 cups of pets 2 cups of patience 3 ounces of anger/frustration 3 quarts of laughter 4 teaspoons of trust And last but definitely not least, Lots and lots of love First, open the house, and make sure that it will be the right size for your family. Mix the desired amount of people with the pets, carefully so you don’t damage them. In a separate bowl, stir the love and laughter together. Set aside. Taking each person separately, evenly distribute the patience and trust, making sure that each one gets an equal amount (Failure to distribute evenly may lead to different recipe! See recipe for “My impatient family” for details). Carefully open the bottle of anger/frustration. Using a Q-tip, dab small portions of the anger/frustration onto each person. Lastly, take the love and laughter and sprinkle it all over the house, pets, and people. Let sit until all parts of the recipe are thoroughly combined, and voila! Your Perfect Family is complete.

23: Dirt 'n' Worms 1 1/4 lb crushed oreo cookies 1 large container of Cool Whip 8 ounces cream cheese 2 (3.5 ounce) boxes french vanilla instant pudding 3 cups of milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract GUMMY WORMS!! Grind cookies, set aside. Mix Cool Whip and cream cheese in container until creamy smooth. Set aside. Mix pudding, milk and vanilla in container. Layer pudding mixture with cookie crumbs and add gummy worms to the layers, ending with cookie on top. Top with a layer of cookie to look like “dirt.” If preferred, add cookie crumbs to the pudding mixture. For extra fun, prepare in a large plastic flower pot! | Fruit Pizza 1/2 cup butter 1/4 cup powdered sugar 1 cup flour 8 oz. Cream cheese 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 tsp vanilla Fresh fruit of your choice Crust; Mix together butter, powdered sugar, and flour then press on to pizza pan. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes. Topping; Mix cream cheese, sugar and vanilla then spread on cooled crust. And add cut up fruit.

24: Frosting (for the ultimate carrot cake) 1 cup unsalted butter, softened 1 lb cream cheese, softened 1 cup icing sugar 1 tbsp vanilla 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans for garnish (optional) Use a mixer. Beat butter at medium speed until it's light and fluffy. Add the cream cheese one piece at a time, beating well each time. When the cream cheese is incorporated, reduce speed to med low and add the sugar and vanilla. Stop the mixer to add the sugar. Mix just enough to remove lumps. Scrape bowl as needed. If the frosting seems loose, refrigerate for a few minutes until it is spreadable.

25: Name | The Ultimate Carrot Cake | Softened butter and flour for the pan 1/2 cup dried currants 1 lb carrots, minced as fine as possible 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour 2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 1/4 tsp ground allspice 1/4 tsp ground mace 1/4 tsp ground cloves 3/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans 4 large eggs 1 1/2 cups white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 cup vegetable oil and 1/4 cup walnut oil Position rack in bottom third of 350 degree oven. Butter and flour a 9x13 heavy duty cake pan. Soak currents in 1/2 cup hot water for 15 min. Drain and set aside. Chop carrots to a very fine consistency - food processor/blender. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and spices. Whisk to blend. Transfer 1/4 cup of the mixture to a small bowl and add the drained currants and 3 oz nuts. Toss to combine. Mix eggs and sugar until blended. Slowly add the oils, whisking constantly to incorporate them. Scrape this mixture into the flour mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula to combine. Add the carrots and current-nut mixture. Stir to combine. Scrape batter into the prepared pan. Bake for about 50 mins.. Let cool on a rack to room temp. Invert the pan to remove the cake.
