1: This Cookbook is inspired by all of the talented cooks in the family.

2: Tosha | Pancakes | 2 Cups Flour 1/2 tsp. Salt 2 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder 2 Cups 1/2 & 1/2 2 Eggs 4 T. Oil Mix all ingredients and pour out pancakes on a hot griddle. It is fun to make shapes with the batter.

4: Lucy Bates | Chow Chow (Chili Sauce) | 12 Large Ripe Tomatoes 4 Apples 4 Medium Onions 1 small Red Pepper 3 Cups Vinegar 3 Cups Sugar 2 T. Salt 1 tsp. Cloves 1 tsp. Ginger 1 tsp. Cinnamon Boil Tomatoes, onions and peppers for 2 hours. Chop apples & add 1/2 hour before done. Put spices in when nearly done. Bottle and Seal. Serve with fried potatoes, hamburger, onions & beans.

9: Lucy Bates | Chocolate Sheet Cake | Grease and flour an 11 x 15 inch pan. Bring to a boil: 2 Cubes of Butter, 3 Tbs of Cocoa, 1 Cup Water Pour boiled mixture over: 2 Cups Flour 2 cups Sugar 1/2 Cup Buttermilk 2 Eggs 1 tsp. Baking Soda 1 tsp. Vanilla Dash of Salt Can add nuts if desired. Bake and enjoy it! | 350

11: Royal Icing for Gingerbread Houses | Gramz E | 3 Large Egg Whites 5 Cups Sifted Confectioners Sugar In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat egg whites on low speed until just frothy (about 1 minute). Beat in 1/4 Cup of the Sugar. Add the remaining sugar and beat icing on high speed until it holds a peak and is very thick, 5-10 minutes. To keep a crust from forming, cover the icing with a damp paper towel. | 3 Cups

13: Thanksgiving: A Time to Give Thanks for Family | Gramz E | Raisin Sauce | 1/2 Cup Raisins 1 3/4 Cup Water Simmer for 10 minutes Combine and add: 1 Tbsp. Cornstarch 1/3 Cup Brown Sugar 1 tsp. Dry Mustard 1/2 tsp. Salt | Add: 2 Tbsp. Vinegar Mix altogether and simmer for 3 minutes. Stir constantly. Serve with cooked turkey.

14: 1 Cup Whole Milk 1/2 Cup Sugar Dash of Salt 2 Cups of Heavy Cream 1/2 tsp. Vanilla Combine milk, sugar, and salt stirring until sugar is dissolved. Add cream and vanilla. Place in a small container. Place in a larger container and put ice and rock salt around smaller container. Attach larger container to a bike and go for a long ride. When you get to the end of the road you will have a great treat to enjoy before riding back home. | Homemade Ice Cream

16: Star Christmas Trees | Gramz E teaches her grandchildren how to make these wonderful Christmas Trees out of star-shaped sugar cookies. These were a Burton Family Tradition she enjoyed making with her children. | Make a batch of your favorite sugar cookies and cut them with different sized star cookie cutters and cut a small hoe in the center of each star.. After they have been cooked and cooled, frost them with green frosting. Glue a dowel stick to a round 4" piece of styrofoam or wood block. Fit a large cookie over the top of the dowel and gently push it to the base of the dowel. Place a candy fruit ring over the dowel and place another large cookie on. Continue this process using smaller cookies until the tree is the size you would like. Next, use a a pastry bag to pipe icicles of white icing on the tips of each star.

19: Wedding Punch | This Punch was served at Rustan and Anna's Reception 1 Quart Water with 2 Cups sugar heated until sugar dissolves. Then Cool. Blend remaining ingredients: 2 Cups Boysenberries 2 Cups Blackberries 1 Cup Blueberries 1 small can Lemonade 6 oz orange juice diluted with 2 cans of water 1 Cup Pineapple Juice Freeze the mixture. Several hours before serving, take it out of the freezer and thaw slightly. Using a potato masher, mash up mixture and add 7-UP, or Ginger Ale.

21: Pumpkin Roll | From the Kitchen f Gramz E 4 Eggs Beat Well Add: 1 Cup Sugar Beat well and add: 2/3 Cup Pumpkin 1 tsp. Lemon Juice 1 1/4 C Flour 1 tsp. Baking Powder 2 tsp. Cinnamon 1 tsp. Ginger 1/2 tsp. Nutmeg 1/2 tsp. Salt Beat well. Pour into a well-greased and floured cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes at 350. | Cream Cheese Filling 1 pkg (8 oz.) Cream Cheese 1 Cup Powdered Sugar 6 Tbsp. Butter 1 tsp. Vanilla When cake comes out, carefully loosen edges and cover with a floured dish towel. Turn upside down and roll up in the towel. When cooled, frost with cream cheese filling and roll back up. Freeze until ready to serve!

23: Grandpa Burton's Chocolate Pie | 4 oz. Semisweet Chocolate (or Milk Chocolate) 1/3 Cup Milk 2 Tbsp. Sugar 3 oz. Cream Cheese 8 oz. Cool Whip Heat chocolate and milk over low heat on stove until chocolate is melted and well combined with milk. In a separate bowl combine sugar and cream cheese using an electric mixer until cream cheese is smooth. Add chocolate mixture to cream cheese mixer and mix until smooth. Fold in cool whip. Pour entire mixture into a graham cracker crust. Chill. Serve with plenty of cool whip. Grandpa Burton makes this pie every year for Thanksgiving!

24: Basic Bread & Croissants | 3 Cups Warm Water 1/2 Cup Sugar 3 Tbsp. Yeast Combine these three ingredients and allow them to sit for 10 minutes. Then add: 4 tsp. Salt 2/3 Cup Oil or Applesauce 4 Eggs 9-10 Cups of Flour Mix for 10 minutes in Bosch mixer or Kitchen Aid. Let this raise for 15-20 minutes. Knead down and form into rolls or loaves on greased pans. Let it raise again for 15 minutes. Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes. For Croissants:

26: 1-2 Cups Chopped Onions 1-2 Cups Chopped Celery 2 Cups Cubed Potatoes Cook in a small amount of water until tender Meantime cook together: 3/4 Cup Butter 3/4 Cup Flour Add: 1 Quart of Milk Stir constantly until thickened. Add Salt and Pepper to taste, then add: 2 Cans of Clams Serve with Crackers and Cheese Ball on Thanksgiving Eve. | Clam Chowder

29: 3 Tbsp. Flour 1 tsp. Salt 1/4 tsp. Pepper 1 Pound Beef Tenderloin 1/4" thick 1 Clove Garlic 1 Cup Sour Cream 1/4 Cup Butter 1/2 Cup Minced Onion 1/4 Cup Water 1 Can Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup 1 Cup Sliced Mushrooms Combine flour, salt, and pepper. Trim fat from meat. Rub both sides of meat with garlic. Pound flour mixture into both sides of meat. Cut meat into 1 1/2" by 1" strips. Brown meat in a skillet with hot butter. Remove meat. Add onion. Saute until clear. Add water, stir to dissolve brown bits in skillet. Add soup, meat and mushrooms last. Cook uncovered over low heat until mixture is thick and meat is fork-tender (20 minutes). Before serving stir in sour cream. Do NOT Boil. Serve over rice or noodles. | Beef Stroganoff
