2: Basic Information | Cultural literacy is knowledge of history, contributions, and perspectives of different cultural groups, including one's own group, necessary for understanding of reading, writing, and other media. | Cultural Literacy
3: Virtually, cultural literacy is the concept of being knowledgeable, accepting and understanding of the norms of various cultures and people. Examples of cultural literacy can include historical references, language, obeying laws and civility. Cultural literacy also varies from location to location. However, it is very important that people are aware of cultural literacy. It is important that individuals practice cultural literacy because of its value. Having cultural literacy helps you code switch and certain situations. Being able to communicate successfully with others and navigate around a region are important traits to have. The more culturally literate an individual is, the easier time they'll have. | Virtual Literacy

10: Why I Chose It | I chose to do my literacy project on different families in literature because of its growing popularity due to the mainstream acceptability of multiple families in society. Most children literature do not contain bx on homosexuality, blended families. This can be most likely attributed to the growing stir of controversy surrounding these books. This is a topic that many people do not want to discuss; but according to statistics several families have homosexuals or is a part of blended families.
11: Why Is It Important | Diverse families in Children literature is very important because It promotes diversity within the classroom allowing for different types of families to be represented in books and lessons. It teaches students to have tolerance and respect for others .It allows students to open their minds to family structures that are different from . It also creates a aid and resource for students who may be going through personal issues. Lastly, It allows students that hail from gay families to be represented in class.
