BC: My name is Rachel H. and I attend Texas A&M. Tutoring is one of my favorite things to do. I have worked with hundreds of children of all ages. I tutor kids in Algebra 1 so I specialize in trigonometric ratios, solving multistep equations, ratios and proportions, percents, radical equations and more! I recognize that there are many reasons a student may be having difficulty with math, so I have developed the ability to tailor my tutoring to each individual's needs. 2: Marjorie Lee Browne is a great example of a woman mathematician who did an amazing job in the math career. Marjorie Lee Browne was born on September 9, 1914 in Memphis Tennessee. Her mother was Mary Taylor Lee and Lawrence Johnson Lee was her father. Her mother died when she was two. | Her Father and stepmother encouraged her to study math. Marjorie went to LeMoyne High School, which was a private school, after attending public school in Memphis. She attended Howard University and received her B.S. in Mathematics there in 1935 when she was only 21 years old. She got her M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 1939. Marjorie Browne was one of the first African American women with a graduate degree. She taught at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas while continuing graduate work in the summers. She received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 1950 and was the third African American Women to do this. After receiving her Ph.D., she taught at North Carolina Central University. She soon became the chair of the Mathematics department in 1951. She died of a heart attack at the age of 65 on October 19, 1979. 4: Careers Involving Math By: Olivia Hindera | Many careers involve math and the use of problem solving. An actuary, rocket scientist, and statistician all have jobs which involve math and problem solving. Everyday, we depend on these professions in some way. Each of these jobs use a certain type of math that will help them to the greatest extent. Actuaries are business professionals that deal with finances. They try to minimize the effect of both emotional and financial issues. Their career involves math because they need to conclude the total amount of financial issues, along with emotional issues, such as the total amount of deaths. Rocket scientists are aerospace engineers that build the rockets. They need to have mathematical knowledge to determine speeds, and certain areas or perimeters of shapes. We need rocket scientists to learn more about the universe we live in and the mysteries it holds. The main job of a statistician is to measure and interpret the regular patterns of humans in the world. For example, determining the basketball statistics, or, similar to actuaries, determining the average number of deaths a year. They help us in predicting and determining events that happen in the world. These are just a few of the many jobs that include math. As you can see, without math many things would not exist.

6: ALbert Einstein Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879 in Wrttemberg, Germany. When Albert was only six weeks old the family moved to Munich, where Albert eventually began his education at Luitpold Gymnasium. He later moved to Italy, where he continued his schooling at Aarau, Switzerland. Albert entered the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in 1896 to be trained as a teacher in mathematics and physics. In 1901, he obtained his diploma and became a technical assistant in the Swiss Patent Office and then, in 1905, he gained his doctor’s degree. He was chosen Privatdozent in Berne in 1908, in 1909 he became Professor Extraordinary at Zurich, and he became Professor of Theoretical Physics at Prague in 1911. He then went back to Zurich to do a similar job. In 1914 he was appointed Professor in the University of Berlin, Director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Physical Institute, and he became a German citizen. stayed in Berlin until 1933 when he immigrated to the United States to become Professor of | Theoretical Physics at Princeton. In 1940, he became a US citizen and in 1945, he retired. Albert had many scientific and non-scientific works. His non-scientific works include About Zionism (1930), Why War? (1933), My Philosophy (1934), and Out of My Later Years (1950). Some of his most important scientific works are Special Theory of Relativity (1905), General Theory of Relativity (1916), Investigations on Theory of Brownian Movement (1926), and The Evolution of Physics (1938). During Albert’s lifetime, he received many degrees and awards for his work. He received honorary doctorate degrees in philosophy, science, and medicine.
