S: Young Artists Studio Friendships

BC: Young Artists Studio is a collaborative process-orientated art program free of cost for young artists of all abilities. We work in the studio, in the field, with guest artists, on individual and group art projects, exhibit regularly throughout the year, and enjoy each other's company. FC: Young Artists Studio Friendships

Young Artists Studio is a place of relationships. It is an inclusive art program, serving able bodied and challenged artists in a free, after-school art program. At our foundation, there is a sense of mutual respect as we observe each other, work together, ask and answer questions, and are inspired by one another, no matter what our ability level.

Not all days are good days and sometimes, young artists come into the studio with worries, sadness, and concerns. A helping hand, a friendly ear, and words of encouragement do much to ease the fears of those whose life experience has often been one of social rejection.

A hug from a friend who really cares does wonders. We all just want to be heard, understood, and loved.

For YAS, it's always about creating an environment where all young artists feel respected and listened to. When students of all abilities feel safe and loved, they learn and create with confidence and happiness. They grow both as artists and as young people, trying to find their place in the world.

Happy hearts create beautiful art. We all feel better knowing that we're loved and accepted for who we are.

We grow individually and collectively by observing the art of others, regardless of our abilities or disabilities. We all thrive sharing a moment of love with friends.

Often, one artist is inspired by the efforts of another and tries that particular technique with different results. | Exploration and respecting the process of art as much as the product yields rich growth of individual artists.

Inspired by each other as we create self portraits in the studio.

Young Artists Studio staff hears stories of personal transformation all the time; young people who struggle in school or other social settings, but excel at YAS because we have extra staff and volunteers as well as the ability and passion to modify the class to suit specific needs and interests of individual students.

We enjoy hearing each other's stories of how an art piece evolved.

focused on printing as we work with a guest artist

Sometimes little mistakes can end up making wonderfully interesting art! Through this process, we all learn that "mistakes" can be lucky.

Whether we work collaboratively on a project together

or just side quietly side by side as we work, we are helping to create a more inclusive world by creating relationships across ability boundries.

When we work together, we can create great things.
