FC: Story of Teaching by Kayla Tully
 My Journey
My family has always been a very important factor in my life. They have all told me since I was very young that I would be great with children. I had to go on a journey to find this out on my own. No matter what course I have taken or road I have gone down, my family has supported me. I would not be where I am today without all of their love and encouragement!
I graduated high school and went off to college. I had no idea why besides that it was the thing you do next. I had a great time making friends and learning about myself. I joined many activities and groups. However, I made little academic or professional advancement. I found myself feeling lost and confused. Was this the path for me? | First Stop: College
 New Chapter
I decided to change my path and took a job as a nanny. Little did I know, these boys would become a huge part of my life and an inspiration to me. I grew to love them dearly. I had a blast watching them grow and develop and being a part of helping them in that!
After nannying for awhile, I decided to go back to school. I was able to attend UC Clermont evening classes and still watch the boys during the day. I was still unsure of exactly what I wanted to do. All that I knew was that I loved working with children.

After finishing my associates degree in Early Childhood Education, I was able to go on a mission trip to Costa Rica. We worked in schools, as well as with families. This experience really opened my eyes. I was able to see that I wanted to continue my education and help children and families in anyway I can. | C O S T A R I C A
After taking some time off, I decided to go back to UC and pursue my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. While at UC, I have been able to create and implement many activities. I have learned a lot about children, development, and teaching!
 University of Cincinnati
 Gingerbread House Daycare
I started working at a daycare. I was able to complete my practicum hours here. I learned so much from my experience here!
During my college career, I got married and found out we are expecting. I plan to use my education to better my family. I want my daughter to know that anything is possible and to always chase her dreams! I plan to provide a great developmental experience for her as she grows up!
As I graduate, I plan to take time to be a mother and take care of my family. I believe being a mother is the best teaching experience I will ever have. | Graduation!
All of my experiences have made me who I am today. I want to be the kind of teacher that truly loves and respects children. I believe in providing many experiences as possible to help students grow and learn. I think family involvement is a very important aspect of education. Overall, I want to see every child succeed and believe in themselves.
