Once upon a time there lived a young girl by the name of Summerina. Summerina just graduated from Fairy school and wanted to go to Tooth Fairy University, where more than anything she wanted to earn her wings and become a tooth fairy.
While in school, one of Summerina's jobs is to educate the young boys and girls on the importance of clean and healthy teeth. Her teachers Mrs. Cookina and Mrs. Edwina had one last task for her to complete before she could earn her tooth fairy wings. Little did Summerina know , this was going to be much harder then she expected.
Summerina's task was to visit the home of a young boy named Charlie, who had just lost his first tooth. When Summerina arrived at the house, she gracefully flew into the boy's room and looked under his pillow to find a rotten tooth! She immediately used her wand to lighten the room and awaken Charlie. Charlie opened his sleepy eyes surprised to find the tooth fairy in his room!
Summerina cut right to the chase and asked Charlie why his tooth looked like this. Little Charlie replied with “I didn't know it mattered how my baby teeth looked because they're just going to fall out anyways!”.
Summerina asked him how many times he brushes his teeth a day and Charlie said “only once”. She also asked him how many times he flosses and he replied with “never”! This is where Summerina had to step in and explain to Charlie the importance of why he should keep his teeth clean and what he can do to keep them healthy. She had to help Charlie get rid of his bad habits before it affects the rest of his teeth.
“First things first”, said Summerina, “what kind of foods do you like to eat during the day”? Charlie named several things like sodas, cake and cookies! Summerina just shook her head. She needed to explain to Charlie why these foods were bad for his teeth.
She asked him if he has ever heard of plaque, little Charlie said “no”. “Well Charlie”, Summerina replied, “Plaque is a sticky, colorless bacteria that is constantly forming on your teeth and if you do not clean it off it can harden and turn into calculus that will not come off unless you go to the dentist.” Little Charlie immediately looked in the mirror to see if he could see the nasty bacteria on his teeth.
Summerina replied by telling Charlie that he needed to start eating healthier foods. She told Charlie that he needed to cut down on eating sugary, sweet foods because the bacteria from your teeth mixes with sugar and make acids. When acid attacks your teeth it makes your teeth decay. Summerina told Charlie that decay doesn't get better by itself and that he would have to go to the dentist and get a filling to stop the decay from spreading.
Charlie asked Summerina what types of healthy foods should he eat. Summerina suggested he eat things like cheese, chicken, nuts, meat, milk, and fruits like apples and pears. Little Charlie smiled because he likes to eat apples and cheese.
Next, Summerina had to teach Charlie about brushing and flossing his teeth. She told Charlie that he needed to brush twice a day and floss once a day. She also explained to him about some of the different ways he could brush. She told Charlie that he needed to start by flossing before brushing his teeth.
Summerina told him that he needed to get a piece of floss that is the length of a ruler and wrap the ends around his pointer finger and thumb. Now she told him to place the floss between his teeth and curve the floss into a “C” shape against the side of one tooth and gently rub the floss up and down keeping it pressed against that tooth. "Make sure you do this in a slow motion so you do not harm your gums”, Summerina said to Charlie. Do this same motion for each of your teeth.
Next for little Charlie, Summerina suggested he use the Modified Bass brushing method. Little Charlie looked confused, so Summerina showed Charlie how to do it. First she told him to place the toothbrush at an angle starting with his back teeth and move the toothbrush in a circular motion. Slowly start moving the tooth brush forward to your front teeth and then on to the opposite side. Make sure you take your time so you can get all the bacteria off.
After you have finished with your top teeth, do the same steps to your bottom teeth. Next, take the toothbrush and place it on your chewing surface of your teeth and move the brush in a back and forth motion. After you have done this, rinse your toothbrush and place it on your tongue to remove the bacteria from that area.
Summerina really felt like she had accomplished her goal of teaching Little Charlie on the importance of taking care of your teeth. As Summerina was leaving, Charlie gave her a big hug and thanked her for all her help. Before she left, she magically placed a dollar under his pillow.
When Summerina arrived back at Tooth Fairy University, Mrs. Cookina, and Mrs. Edwina were waiting for her. She was nervous to find out if she had past her final task. Suddenly both of her teachers smiled and granted her with her tooth fairy degree. Summerina was so proud that she had finally earned her wings and could not wait to teach other children about the importance of clean and healthy teeth.
 The End!
