6: Jo wears fur for her 50th birthday | Wish us good luck on the raffle ticket for our new home! | Oreo Ice Cream Cookie Dessert-Dea l lb. oreo cookies-crushed 1/3 c. melted butter-cooled Crush oreos in a plastic bag, add cooled butter, mix and press into a 9x13 pan. Slice 1/2 gal vanilla or peppermint ice cream over crushed cookie mixture. Spread entire jar of hot fudge over top. Freeze. Before serving add cool whip as frosting. Decorate with Hershey kisses or crushed Heath Bars.

8: Farewell in 1994 to Roberta as she heads for Nebraska to work on her doctorate. | Mushrooms Florentine-Kathy 1 lb mushrooms, 1/4 cup butter, 1 lb spinach, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup grated cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup chopped onion, 1/2 teaspoon garlic garlic salt, pepper taste. Slice off stems and saute mushroom stems and caps. Line 9 x 12 greased casserole with spinach that has been cooked and drained. Sprinkle with salt and onions and 1/2 of the cheese. Arrange mushrooms over cheese and cover with remaining cheese. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Serve 6.

Cumulatively we have lived over 600 years, have been married for nearly 400 years and we have parented 24 children. We have volunteered for and financially supported poor women, families, the sick, less fortunate, enviromental causes, libraries, school sports and music programs.

14: We have no trouble playing bridge with 5 people! | The Harmon Cabin is simply charming. | Relaxing on the dock | Sauerkraut Meatballs-Linda | 2 lbs. ground chuck and 1 lb mild sausage. 1 cup bread crumbs, 1 pkg onion soup and 3 eggs. Mix and shape into balls in 9 x 12 pan. Sauce: bottle of Heinz Chili sauce and same bottle of water, 1 cup loose brown sugar, 1 can drained sauerkraut and 1 can whole cranberry sauce. Simmer sauce and spread on meatballs. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hrs.

16: Vingelen's retire to Hilton Head Island and are visited by Jo and Jim. | Bridge Club History The Bridge Club started around 1964 with Lynn Bowen and a table of four including Jane Schuster. Jane had attended University of Michigan with Annette Brown. Another Benton Harbor friend and classmate, Suzanne Schulz made up the first table of four. Kathy Kuschel MacTavish, who was Lynn's student teacher, began to play with the group and Peg Harmon and Sue Muhlenkamp joined when they moved to St. Joseph with teacher husband/coaches in 1969. JoEllen Tiscornia, a neighbor of Lynn's join in and another teacher-wife, Roberta Nelson. Dea Carle, along with Joan Judd, joined via connections with church and Newcomers. Joan was a sorority sister of Sue Muhlenkamp's at Albion College. Sally Adkin replaced Sue Muhlenkamp and Linda Vingelen replaced Joan Judd. Hence the current nine-strong "Ladies of the Club" were playing bridge together as early as 1971. We played the third Thursday of each month, rotating in member's homes. We played 7:30 pm-closing.

20: Nothing Could Be Finer! Roberta, Jo, and Dea come down to North and South Carolina to visit Sally and Linda in 2002. We play bridge, tour Charleston, shop and enjoy the beach.

22: Chocolate Angelfood Cake-Annette 1 cup sifted cake flour 1 1/2 t. cream of tartar 1 1/4 c.gran sugar 2 t. vanilla 1/3 c cocoa 3/4 t. cinnamon 1/2 t salt 12 lg egg whites 2T sifted confectioners sugar (optional) Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Sift together flour, 3/4 c sugar, cocoa, cinnamon and salt. In clean large bowl beat egg whites on high speed until foamy. Add cream of tartar and beat until soft peaks form. Add 1/4 c sugar in a steady stream-beat until whites are stiff and glossy but not dry. Beat in vanilla. Sprinkle last 1/4 c sugar over top and fold in gently. Gently fold in flour mixture. Spoon batter into ungreased 10" tube pan. Bake 45 min until tester comes out clean. Invert pan and let cool. 27: Sally, JoEllen and Linda join Blake's future mother-in-law at a 2007 wedding shower hosted by Kate Adkin Davis. | Dirty Bird Feed-Lynn Bowen 4 T butter, 3 T sugar, 1/4 C. Jack Daniels, 1 T hot pepper sauce, 1.5 t salt, 1/2 t garlic powder, 4 C pecan halves. Combine butter, sugar, whiskey, hot sauce, salt and garlic powder and bring to boil, stirring constantly for 3 mins. Remove from heat-stir in pecans and toss to coat with butter mixture. Spread nuts in a jelly roll pan which has been coated with cooking oil. Stir halfway through. Watch closely last 10 mins as it tends to burn quickly. Cool completely. Can be stored for 3 wks.
