FC: Advisory HR Leadership Meeting: New Orleans January 2011 A Unique Experience of Inspiration and Teamwork

1: Welcome to New Orleans! I am excited to share with you the details of our Advisory HR Leadership Meeting, which will begin tonight with a wonderful dinner at Antoine's restaurant located in the heart of the French Quarter. This is my first time in New Orleans, so I look forward to tasting some of their specialties! You will find in your welcome bag (among a few goodies!), a sweatshirt to wear to the community service event that will take place tomorrow, January 26. With the theme around inspiration, there is no better place to experience how one community rose above a devastating disaster, Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005, that disabled much of New Orleans. We will be working with a community service organization, HandsOn New Orleans, to provide crucial support to help the Dreamkeeper Garden at Langston Hughes Academy Charter School grow. Our work will include gardening, constructing a water catchment and various other activities related to growing and sustaining this structure. I know many of you enjoy gardening as well, so plan to get your hands dirty to support this great community! Just to give you a sense of the destruction that took place in New Orleans and how the Firm responded, please read the speech attached from our Kathy Nieland, New Orleans MMP. She was directly impacted by Katrina and has an inspiring message that she shared with the University of Texas, among other schools. You will get the chance to meet Kathy and hear first hand about her experiences at the community service event. Our final day in New Orleans will take place at the W Hotel, where we will discuss the role of HR and continue our efforts around succession planning, as well as hear from our fellow colleagues on the various strategy pillar workstreams currently in place. -Margaret

18: To the Advisory HR Leadership Team, I wanted to thank you all for these incredible days, which were so special to me in many, many ways! There are so many memories I have of each of you, Plus lots of fun, dancing and merriment too! Dinner at Antoine's certainly did not disappoint and we can't forget Bourbon at the fun dancing joint! A good time was had by all at Langston Hughes and we were blessed by Hands On and their really great crews! The singing by the children and the thanks from the school made it all worth it plus we got to learn how to use a power tool! Kathy's account of the hurricane and all that was impacted made us all so proud of how great the firm reacted! We added our flair to a garden that now grows, but also found time for good food at Jacques Imos! The tour was special and continued to help us bond, plus we enjoyed cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe Du Monde! Also, for all of you I have a memory which I can recall You were all so engaged and seemed to enjoy it all! For instance, the Diamond team lived up to their hype, I'm looking forward to working with y'all 'cause your just our type!

19: An honorable mention must go Carrie, Maggie, Dan, Lisa and Me especially for building the Trellis where the garden entry will be! We were able to share two truths at a great dinner, and learned that Cheryl G. used to be a synchronized swimmer. Lisa tried to trick everyone by saying she's a divorcee and Bill Hankee enjoyed Harrah's and a $30 pay day! Welter and Duggan tried to enjoy an all nighter and they really didn't seem at all to tire! Jen B. felt at times like she may need to babysit, and we all must say that Jena's DVD was a hit! We hit it off with Marvin and what other NTMO could be 'betta and hope he still enjoyed his beets even without the nuts and feta! We did take some time to focus on our strategy and learned from Kelley and Cheryl how much better onboarding will be! Patrice kept us all full of so many great treats, and we can't forget the incredible plentiful sweets! Stacey your compensation work gave us more information at hand, and Maura I hope your plane did eventually land! Gwen thanks for joining our crazy HR Leaders crew, I hope you had lots of fun and created some good memories too! Well that's all for my ode and wish you all a fond adieu I hope you can all say from this great experience you grew! -Team McNerney
