3: Most the population is Islamic and the other 1% are Christians and Jewish people. The most common languages spoken are Arabic and French mostly used with Berber dialects. This nation is very firm on family beliefs and honorer is the foundation of the Algerian society. An individual's actions can effect someones opinion on the entire family. To this culture family comes above all things. Their education is set up into three schooling systems Basic eduction, General Secondary education and Technical Secondary education. Basic education is schooling that starts at age 6 and goes up until they are 15. General Secondary education is after Basic and goes up to 18. Receiving this is similar to a Bachelor's degree. The third is Technical Secondary and it also is three years and is similar to receiving a Technical Bachelor's degree.
5: Geography Most of the Sahara desert takes place in Algeria's southern region. Algeria is mostly desert until you move more north and you will find vast plains and highlands. Further up towards the coastal area is a very mountainous region with a steppe landscape. The annual rainfall ranges from 15.7 - 26.4 inches. Since Algeria is mostly desert the climate is very hot throughout the day and very chilly over night.

7: Government Algeria has been under the constitution since last amended in 1976. The executive branch is controlled by the current president Abdelaziz Bouteflika. A president is popularly elected for a five year term and is also able to be re-elected for an additional 5 years term. The Prime Minister is head of government and is chosen by the president but, the National People's Assembly must approve of that person. Ahmed Ouyahia is the current prime minister.
