FC: Plant and Animal Cells !
Cell Theory! | 1) All organisms consist of one or more cells. 2) The cell is the basic unit of structure for all organisms. 3) All cells arise from pre-existing cells.
R.H: He was 1st to study and record cells by using a microscope. M.S: He was co-founder of the cell theory. T.S: He also developed the cell theory. R.V: He proposed a theory that cells arise from each other in a continuous series of generations. | Contributions of Scientists !
Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus , and prokaryotic cells do not. Also the eukaryotic cells have a enclosed-membrane. | Prokaryotic vs. Eukaryotic Cells!
Plant cells are a rectangular shape, and animal cells are a circular shape. Plant cells contain chloroplast, and a cell wall; animal cells do not. | Plant vs. Animal Cells!
1- Mitochondria: mainly used for the production of energy that the cell uses to do specific work. 2-Chloroplasts: used to capture sunlight and transfer it into useable energy (photosynthesis). 3-Central Vacuole: this structure stores water and may contain many substances including ions, nutrients, and wastes. 4-Nucleus: refered to as the "brain" of the cell because it tells it what to do; it also holds the cell's DNA. 5-Lysosome: functions as the cells digestive system. | 6-Cytoskeleton: refered to as the "backbone" of the cell; supports cell and it's shape. 7-Rough E.R: it's the site of protein synthesis, it provides structure to cells, and also serves as the cells transportation system. 8-Cell Wall: this surrounds the cell membrane and provides support to the cell. 9-Ribosome: composed of RNA and protein; site of protein synthesis because it must be present in order for the cell to produce the proteins. 10-Flagella: enables movement meaning that a cell will use flagella to help with movement. | 10 Cell Structures!
The cell membrane protects the cell from harmful substances present in the external environment from entering the cell. | Cell Membrane!
Homeostasis maintains the natural balance within the body. (stability) | Homeostasis!
