BC: S3P2. Students will investigate Magnets and how they affect other magnets and common objects

FC: Magnets | Atracting magnets by Brenda Beckhom

1: First activity: the teacher will demonstrate to class by holding up a pencil and a magnet and ask the class-

2: First Activity Questions Does the pencil and the magnet stick together? Then, the teacher will hold up a paper clip and a magnet and ask- Is the magnet sticking to the paper clip are they attracting each other?

3: Second activity: Each student will have a string attached to a small magnet at the end. students will walk around the classroom and investigate which objects attract

4: Third activity: Students will be given several items: paper clip, pencil, spoon, empty soda can, using the magnet students will investigate which items attract to the magnets and which objects did not

5: Third Activity Students will answered five questions. Why didn't the magnet attract the pencil? Why did the magnet attract the paper clip? What is a metal?

6: Fourth activity: Students will be given cards with pictures on it and on the board there will be a big picture of a magnet. at each table students will pick out the cards they think will attract the magnet on the board.

7: Fourth Activity The students will tape there picture on the magnet. Finally, count how many objects are on the board.
