1: Chapter 1: Norms | 1) The student will be expected to treat staff and students as they would want to be treated. 2) The student will be expected to attend all classes and try their best to not be tardy. 3) the student will be expected to attempt to finish all work in a timely manner preferably on time. 4) the student will be expected to graduate within a four year time period. 5) The student will be expected to be self-motivated..this is your future! 6) the student will be expected to maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average. 7) The student will be expected to keep their school clean and tidy. 8) the student will be expected to be responsible for his or her own actions. 9) The student will be expected to be important decisions at SGA meetings..make your voice heard! 10) the student must show pride and honor in southeast Raleigh magnet high school! go bulldogs!

2: chapter 2: Identifying Deviance | minor deviant behavior 1: tardiness social function: this behavior unifies the group because majority of the time kids are late to class because they are socializing in the hallway. theory for tardiness: according to the strain theory, not every child is taught that being on time is mandatory. Minor deviant behavior 2: using electronics in class at an inappropriate time. social function: this behavior identifies social problems. many children believe electronics should be allowed. i agree with that, however there is a time and place for that and during the lesson is not one. theory for inappropriate electronics use: according to the cultural transmission theory, texting is a learned behavior. many peer groups use cellular devices as if they are food and water or necessary for life. if someone sees someone texting in class and not getting caught, they'll try it to.

3: chapter 2: identifying deviance | major deviant behavior 1: littering the campus social function: this behavior provides jobs and also identifies social problems because janitor have to clean up the mess and also it shows how little students care about what they do to their environment. theory for littering: according to the labeling theory, many people feel like littering isn't a problem. however, it makes our school's image and surrounding neighborhoods look terrible. major deviant behavior 2: fighting social function: this behavior diffuses tension because kids may not know any other way to alleviate a stressful situation with someone they don't like. theory for fighting: according to the conflict theory, people with power fight to maintain their status, and people without power fight to gain status and popularity.

4: chapter 3: Re-Socialization Ideas | Deviant Behavior 1:Tardiness Re-socialization Idea 1: To stop kids from being tardy, I would use my extra hour of time to create a ''free period''. Children would be given the opportunity to socialize and finish work. Hopefully with this free period, students wouldn't ever be tardy again because they have a whole period strictly for socialization and fun. Deviant Behavior 2: Inappropriate Electronics Use Re-Socialization Idea 2: when it comes to the misuse of electronics, obviously just taking it never really works. if i was principal, i would create a mandatory class on electronics and their negative effects on the brain. i would demonstrate how not paying attention can affect the rest of your life.

5: chapter 3: RE-socialization ideas | Deviant behavior 3: littering re-socialization idea 3: in order to stop the littering, i would use the extra employee to enforce cleanliness. the employee would monitor the school making sure no one littered. whoever the employee caught littering would have to walk around and help clean up for the day. deviant behavior 4: fighting re-socialization idea 4: fighting is a very serious problem in schools today. if i was principal, i would require every student who was involved in a figh, go through an hour long "beyond scared straight" program. i would use the extra employee to act as a warden and take them on a field trip to a nearby corrections center.
