1: CAMPING | Fairbanks Alaska. The first stop. | Once in a lifetime vacation

2: Bush Plane Landing | River boat "Discovery" | Plane taking off from the river | Riverboat Discovery Tour

3: Salmon Trap | Champion musher | These photos were taken from the riverboat Discovery The bush plane took off from the river. Their was a champion dog musher telling about the Iditarod dog sled race. Eskimos were smoking salmon caught in the trap placed along the river.

4: Camping along the river | The salmon Trap below would rotate from the flowing water and lift the salmon into a trough which dumped them in a basket for harvest

5: Eskimo Village | Reindeer along the river. We ate a lot of reindeer sausage. | Salmon were filleted, then left to dry one hour then put in smoker | Eskimo guide explaining the process of smoking salmon

6: Alaska Post Office. Famous musher dog "granit" on the front step | Canoe made from tree bark and snow shoes | Stretching moose bear and caribou hides | A moose on the loose

7: If hide was not available they used spruce branches to cut the wind. would you like to stay overnight. | This is one of the original houses used by the Eskimos. They stretched hides over spruce limbs.

10: Smoked salmon | Gardens grow big in Alaska because they have a lot of sunlight in the summer. It only got dark about 3 hours in the night. | Meridee by the salmon drying racks

11: Lady Musher explaining how much food the dogs eat and how to train them. | Grandma looking for bears on the dog sled. Ooops! Maybe she found one

12: Inside of the Cabin | Granite the famous dog | Mosquito net. You can throw a saddle on them in Alaska. They were BIG and thick | After the river ride we were served shepard's stew with reindeer sausage

13: The Iditarod is a 1000 mile dog sled race. it is a big deal here. | WATERFALL at the Mindenhall glacier

14: Train ride to the gold mines and the Alaska pipeline. Meridee panned for real gold.and struck it rich

16: Dome train ride across alaska | float trip down the river

17: "Shopping Mall" at Denali | Denali hotel complex

18: Denali Park | Denali National Park

19: SoOOO BIG!! Denalit is 90 miles across | Denali is about 90 miles across | Denali Valley | Wild Grizzly Bear in the park

20: Below are Elk Antlers. They were very heavy. | Wild Caribou denali

21: Entrance to Denali National Park | Cliff waiting on train | Mountain goats in denali

22: Train ride from Denali to Anchorage. This was about 200 miles

24: Bus Ride from Anchorage to Seward to catch the cruise ship

25: Sarah Palin lived near Anchorage

27: Sea Life Visitors center at Seward Alaska where we got on the cruise | Meridee at the cruise docking area

28: Cruise Begins!! All Aboard

30: Glaciers in the Park. They were huge-maybe 1 mile across. Ice chunks were falling off the face. | Glacier Bay National Park

31: Juneau, Alaska

32: Salmon Factory | Salmon spawn in the Alaska Rivers then swim out in the ocean for ~3 years then return to the same river. how do they fund their way back/

33: Very steep hills in Juneau behind main | bush planes everywhere. they start flying at 14 yr old | We ate at the Hanger on the Wharf. Planes fly in for lunch | Thousands of salmon at the factory tour

34: Juneau, Alaska Area Cliff had to stop at the famous Red Dog saloon for a frosty mug. | Main Street Juneau | Tundra Type of moss

35: Mendenhall Glacier | This compacted ice is probably centuries old. It is so dense it has a bluish appearance.
