FC: Richardson/Plano Kappa Delta Alumnae Chapter 2012-2013

1: New Member Social Event | Richardson/Plano Kappa Delta AC held a social function at Gloria’s Restaurant on Thursday, July 26, for members, potential new members and collegiate KDs home for the summer. Fifteen members attended including two collegians, two new graduates and three potential new members. 6: Past Presidents' Reception | Convention awards on display. | The Richardson/Plano Kappa Delta Alumnae Chapter Board hosted its first reception honoring past presidents on Friday, July 22, 2011 at the home of Neva Cochran. Eleven past presidents attended including founding member and first president Barbara Darnall (1967-68) as well as early presidents Meredith Marston (1976-77 and 1986-87) Mildred Phillips (1979-80 and 1981-82). In addition to enjoying delicious appetizers and drinks, Chapter President Allison Hogan told the group about the ten awards our chapter received at the recent KD Convention in Tucson, which were also on display at the event. A video of RPKDAC convention highlights was shown along with a short video related to the KD Confidence Coalition. Members were able to electronically sign the Confidence Coalition Pledge on the national KD website at the event. Everyone had a great time!

10: Girl Scout Kickoff August 6, 2011

11: Allison Hogan, RPKDAC President, managed a booth at the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas Kick-off event. Allison talked with Girl Scouts, leaders and service unit managers from the Dallas Ft. Worth Area about the great programs that Kappa Delta offers to Girl Scouts. The booth displayed information about the Confidence Coalition, "Friends say the tough stuff, so say it" campaign, International Women's Friendship Month and International Girls Day. Allison gave away pens, balloons, stickers and handouts from Kappa Delta headquarters to the attendees. The RPKDAC also promoted the "You Make me Smile" campaign at this event. The leaders and Scouts loved getting the balloons with the positive messages.

13: On Saturday, August 20th, the Kappa Delta Gamma Beta chapter members at at the University of NorthTexas hosted a mock recruitment event for their friends, family members and Kappa Delta sisters. Allison Hogan, President of the Richardson/Plano Kappa Delta Alumnae Chapter and RPKDAC member, Margie Lynn, participated. This event allowed the collegians an opportunity to practice their recruitment skills with "potential" members. 14: Membership Brunch | The Richardson/Plano KD Alumnae Chapter kicked off the year with a membership brunch at the home of Neva Cochran. Over 30 members attended with nearly a third of them new members, thanks to Membership VP, Tara Wettreich. The event began with the presentation of our $1000 KiDs grant check to Eboni Chopp, Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas Direct Program Manager by our president, Allison Hogan. After a delicious brunch provided by Board members, videos of KD convention and KD philanthropies were shown and members were updated about our activities for the year.

16: Painting With a Twist! 09/08/11 | The Richardson/Plano Alumnae Chapter celebrated National Women’s Friendship Month with a meeting at Color Me Mine Pottery on September 8, 2011. Members selected a piece of pottery to paint – pumpkins, vases, pitchers, bowls and more - while enjoying appetizers and conversation with their sisters. Those who didn’t have a place in their home for their masterpiece were encouraged to donate it for our KD Kocktail Party auction in November. In addition, purses were collected for Gamma Beta Chapter’s drive for a local women’s shelter as part of the Go Confidently initiative.

18: Founder's Day | Kathy with guest speaker, Jennifer Bartkowski, Chief Development Officer of Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, spoke on "Leadership in the 21st Century - Girl Scouts and Kappa Delta."

19: Luncheon 2010 | Emerald (60-year), White Rose (50-year) and Nautilus (25-year) Circle members were recognized and presented with white roses. Members who had received the National Kappa Delta Order of the Pearl or Order of the Emerald awards were acknowledged and given white roses, too.

20: Ever Loyal KD Reception

21: Our reception was hosted by Neva Cochran, while national KD president, Beth Langford, was in town. Sisters pledged to be "ever loyal" to Kappa Delta.

25: Friends of Wednesday's Child Benefit Luncheon | Featured speaker, Leigh Anne Tuohy, joined forces with RPKDAC to raise money for North Texas children in foster care.

27: Our lovely hostess, Mabsie, with Lois | Health, Love, Happiness | After a soup and salad dinner, we celebrated the season and our sisterhood with an exciting White Elephant ornament exchange!

29: Cookie Exchange 2010 | RPKDAC mothers, daughters, and collegian KDs who were home for break enjoyed time together and home-made cookies!

31: January Meeting 2011 Philanthropy We continued our traditional stuffing of Valentine goodie bags with toys and candy for the children and toiletries for the women who are served by Family Outreach of Richardson/Plano/Collin County. We initiated a new project, sewing pillowcases for ConKerr Cancer's "A Case for Smiles" project.

32: February Meeting 2011

33: Paper goods were collected at the February meeting for City House in Plano, the recipient of our 2009 KD KiDs grant. Philanthropy Chair, Shannon George Knowlton, delivered them to City House and is pictured here with a City House staff member. Most of the items we collected will be going to My Friend's House, an emergency shelter for children.


35: RPKDAC Shamrock was held on March 5th at the Dinner Station. Members and guests got to prepare entrees to take home using ingredients and recipes provided. Completed meals filled large zip bags to be frozen and prepared as needed for quick and easy dinners! A portion of each meal purchased was a donation to Shamrock. In addition, a silent auction for a weekend for four at an East Texas ranch, donated by a member, was launched at the event.
