10: FROM A FATHER'S HEART Six months ago my 11 year old son and I were in crisis. He came from and abusive background before he came to live with me and developed severe anti-social behaviors toward everyone in his life. His behavior was so disruptive to other students and teachers that rarely did a week go by without multiple visits to the Principals office. His academic performance suffered greatly as he simply would/could not comply with standard education practices. His behavior at home was equally disruptive and non-compliant. As a single father with no knowledge of how to provide the the special needs of an emotionally damaged child I tried everything I could think of. My sons behavior escalated to the point of being a danger to other children. He acted out in a way that brought the Police and Children's Protective Services into our struggle. I was at the end of my rope. I literally begged CPS to help me find resources to provide my son with the help he needed. There was no resolution. The years of stress and trying had taken their toll and I didn't care if tomorrow ever came. My mother and father had gone to Branson on vacation some weeks earlier and had gone to the James Garrett show "A Tribute to John Denver". There was a table set up outside the theatre with brochures for Jacob's House @ Thunder Ranch and they picked it up on their way out. My parents came to visit me that very same weekend and saw that our crisis had reached critical proportions.

11: My father still had that brochure with him. He said "I don't know anything about this place son, but maybe they can help... I'll make the call if you like. You answered that call yourself, Penny. You agreed to take my son into your ministry and provide him a loving, stable atmosphere in which to heal and learn and grow. By doing so, you also offered me hope. For the first time in a long time, I could see a glimmer of a positive outcome somewhere off in the future. I just came to visit my son for the first time a couple weeks ago. I had been getting good reports about the improvements, but did not know what to expect. I nearly didn't recognize my own son. I was in awe. He was well mannered, polite and calm. His personality is still there, he is still my boy, but the way he present himself and interacts with people is so much improved. We spent the day together roaming around Branson, going to shops, seeing a movie, going to dinner. He never once gave me a reason to feel any of the apprehension, stress and frustration that used to be part of our daily lives. Jacob's House @ Thunder Ranch is truly a blessing. Your ministry has given my son the opportunity to live and grow in the love of Christ. Where not so long ago I worried about the path my son was taking. I now find myself with hope and anticipation to see the kind of man he will grow up to be. Thank all of you who volunteer at Jacob's House.

12: "Jacob's House is where children get a second chance at what life should be. It's not your typical shelter or alternative home, it's where children feel at home and feel that they are a part of something called FAMILY." Amanda Martin Josh and Amanda were married on the ranch, and included us in the ceremony. Payton was the flower girl.
