    Wow...the black and white element of this book, together with all of the photos reminds me of one of those professional Time Life books. I particularly liked the offset text on one of the pages, and the inset photo on another. Very well done!

FC: Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

1: Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a husband, father, civil rights leader, reverend, and a hero. On April 4, 1968 he was tragically assassinated outside a Memphis motel.

2: The home where Martin Luther King, Jr. was born.

6: Martin Luther King, Jr. was one of the most influential people of our time.

8: Dr. King was an important element in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The boycott lasted 381 days.

9: King was a strong believer in nonviolent protests. | He used civil disobedience to deliver his message.

10: Martin Luther King, Jr. faced jail and legal threats several times. However, he pressed on in the name of equality.

11: King fought hard against the Jim Crow Laws which stated blacks and whites were "seperate but equal."

12: On August 28, 1963 Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his famous "I Have A Dream" speech at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.

13: "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." | "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." | "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

14: Following the march, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the National Voting rights Act of 1965 were passed.

15: In 1964, Martin Luther King won the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to end segregation through non-violent actions. | He became the youngest ever to receive the award.

18: On April 4, 1968 King was assassinated on the 2nd floor balcony at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis.

19: Following the news of Dr. King's death, riots broke out in over 60 cities.

20: According to a Gallup Poll, King is the second most admired person in the 20th century. | In 1977, the Presidential Medal of Freedom was awarded posthumously to King by Jimmy Carter | Over 730 cities have streets named after Martin Luther King, Jr.

21: A national holiday in the name of Dr. King is observed on the third monday of January each year.
