BI: The big event this summer was in July. My mom and dad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in March, but we waited until July to throw a big party. And it was a VERY big party! We had a great time with a pig roast, an outdoor breakfast, a dinner and dance, and a day at the lake to honor these very special people. Family and friends came from all over. There has never been so much conversation and picture taking. A good time was had by all, and we just may be recovered by their 60th so that we can do it all over again! Our lives are made full by our family and our friends, and we thank God for all of them. May He bless your lives in the coming year. Merry Christmas, Harvey, Karen, Kyla and Jory
FI: Merry Christmas to all our friends and family! It seems appropriate to be writing our Christmas letter on this, our first icky, snowy, blowy day in November. It doesn’t seem so long ago that we just got rid of the snow from last winter, oh, right, it wasn’t that long ago! Well, we can hope for a mild winter, but since we aren’t the ones in charge then I guess we will wait and see what happens. Our family has been kept busy in the last year, as usual. Harvey and I are still both at the store full-time. I am still involved with Weight Watchers, Bible study, worship team, and am the church treasurer. Harvey helps out with AWANA on Wednesday nights at the church. Jory, who is a senior this year, is involved with senior high youth group, is a helper for junior high youth group and is also involved with the Blockheads, a group of guys who work on vehicles and fix them up to give away to people who need them. He is also still in Taekwondo, and should be testing for his black belt in the next few months. He even managed to squeeze in a few snowboarding trips, thanks to the extended winter weather. Kyla is finishing up her last year at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. For the last year she was working at Helzberg Diamonds, but gave that up this fall in order to focus on some other things. My mom and I were able to go down and visit her last March for a few days and then Harvey and Jory and I flew down this past October to visit. She will graduate this May (two weeks before Jory) with a double major in Business Administration & Advertising and Marketing Communication. She is busy applying for grad schools, so we will be anxious to see where her next move will take her. We were able to take in a little warm weather last winter, which was great. We went to Turks and Caicos in February and then down to Puerto Vallarta in April. Jory got to scuba dive in both places, so his dive card is filling up!
