FC: The Jenks Family 2011 Newsletter
Hello everyone, ! Well, this has been a full year for Lee and I. We have had the joy of baby sitting for our youngest grandson, Dagan during the week. We also went on our first cruise to the Virgin Islands! It was fun but rainy, our stop at CoCo Kay was canceled. The food was delicious but we didn't gain too much weight. We will surely go cruising again. Then we had a downer, Lee was diagnosed with | throat cancer. We can accept and deal with the cancer itself. The treatment therapy is something else...we will deal with it one day at a time. We have started the chemo and the radiation and his docs say he is doing well with it. We are looking into ways to relieve the side effects when they come. Other than THIS....we are doing fine.
This year has brought some exciting times to our family. Kevin is doing well in his biomass project & should be building it in January. He is going to be turning garbage into gas & power. I told him it is like the Flux Capacitor. Kevin and Natalie are now living in Bentonville, AR. Kevin is working for the Walmart Corp Offices & Natalie is working at a game store. They love the weather and the town. Clint is still in the beautiful islands of Hawaii and has been dating P.K. Her, a girl in his ward. He should be graduating in the spring with a computer programing degree. Renae has returned from her mission in Germany & is now attending BYU Utah, she has decided to become a high school German teacher. She will be studying abroad in Germany this year. Brent is still attending U of U and is in the chemical engineering program. He married Justine Mehojah in August of this year. Tonya is now a senior & had a really successful year in tennis. She was able to get all conference second seat. She has applied to all the BYU schools but is hoping to get accepted at BYU Hawaii. I am in my last year of college & will be student teaching next semester. Our family is growing & we have had an interesting year.
This year Des and I were married, Des' mother Stella and her friend Jim were present for the wedding. They loved our country. Stella is planning a return trip! I hope we can get back to Ireland soon! We also had Daisy shipped over and she is the baby sister Mikko always wanted! It has been fun.

The Despain family is very busy!!! The day starts about 6:30 a.m. and ends very late each night. Kalin is in Seminary, that is the reason for the early wakeup call. Kalin has many loves, one is being on the cross country running team which won the state championship for the first time since 1970. He is also enrolled in the AP Gov. class which competed in the state championship and also won. He is the drummer for the excellent band....Jacuzzi Lifeguards. | Rocky plays bass for the school orchestra and also plays bass for her band Running With Scissors. She can really ROCK! Rocky tried out for three dance companies and was accepted into all three. Rocky was in the Nutcracker this Christmas for the O.U. Ballet. She has an upcoming dance recital in May that the N.C. clan hope to attend. She is in the 7th grade. Matt and I feel like taxi drivers for the kids. He teaches Native American Studies and I am still at the IHS Area Office.
Tinker is still working for Cherokee Choices. Her responsibility for the past year was to encourage people to grow their own gardens. She and her helper put veggies in the elementary school courtyard with the help of the students. They also started a half acre vegetable garden in the hopes of introducing local traditional produce into the community.
Of course, her pride and joy is her two boys, Brandes and Dagan. Brandes is in the 2nd grade at his new school. He won a math award this year and was on the A/B Honor Roll. He ran his first 5 K this year!! Dagan is walking and reluctantly starting to talk. He is a chill little dude that is into extra cuddles. He adores his big brother and his big brother adores him!
Ed has been working as Barclay's warehouse manager which is used by the casino. He really enjoys his job and everyone who needs his space for storage are extremely happy with the changes he has made there. He still has his baby Zero. Zero is a healthy and happy pit with loads of energy. He loves to sneak down to the grandparents for a treat. Jody Davis is Ed's roommate, he is a friend of the family since high school.
