1: Germany and Italy joined military forces and became known as the Axis Powers. Japan later joined this alliance. After Germany occupied Czechoslovakia, they proposed they would annex Poland next. After recognizing a growing threat to European security, France and Britain said they would go to war with Germany if they attacked Poland, and sure enough, they did. | Mussolini, the dictator of Italy, founded the Fascist party. Fascists believed, that the government's needs came before that of the citizens'. Any who opposed them would meet a violent doom. The idea of Fascism spread throughout the world, mainly Japan and Germany. They wanted to expand their nations.
2: These two countries called upon the Soviet Union to help them resist further aggression. But to their surprise, Joseph Stalin, leader of the Soviet Union, sign a non aggression pact with Germany. They agree to divide Poland between each other. After German forces moved into Poland, Britain and France (who became known as the Allied Powers) declared war on Germany. World War II had begun.
4: The US Gets Involved | After the German invasion of Poland, the US supplied Britain with needed war materials. Japan continued its expansion in Asia. President Roosevelt immediately cut off all shipments to Japan because of the Japanese occupation in France. Japan demanded that the United States continue to ship gasoline, and other products to them, as well as cease all aid to china. Then, on December 7 1941, Japan bombed the US naval base at Pearl Harbor in the Hawaiian Islands. The next day, the US declared war on Japan. The United States of America, had just entered World War II.

10: During WWII, many things changed, especially the lives of women living in America at the time. During the Great Depression, the Government encouraged women to take jobs that opened up due to men leaving to go to war. A government posters showed a female worker named Rosie the Riveter, who was dressed in overalls and wore a red bandanna. One poster read "I'm Proud...my husband wants me to do my part". Many other encouraging posters such as this came into production, and eventually Rosie the Riveter became a popular icon during WWII | Rosie the Riveter
12: WWII Effects On The Great Depression | WWII was a horrible time period. But good did come out of it. It was WWII that pulled the United States out of the Great Depression. With high demand for guns and other war related supplies, the US became a main supplier. With so many nations in need of these supplies, the US received a substantial amount of money.
14: In the end, victory was in favor of the Allies. With Germany defeated, and Japan flattened by atomic bombs, the war had ended. The United States of America occupied Japan from 1945-1952.
