FC: Calvin

O hai! My name is Calvin. | Fuzzy

When I was a tiny baby-kitty, one of Mommy's friends found me & my sister Hobbes in a cardboard box in the park. It was love at first sight and we went home to live with her.

 Mini Moo!

I was so small back then that I could fit in the length of my mom's hand. Later I grew up to be a big strong boy of 20 lbs. I got so tall that I could reach the kitchen counter with my front paws.

I've been told I have beautiful eyes. They are big and green. | I've got a strong, loud voice, but when I'm scared it comes out like a tiny squeak. | I have velvety soft white paws and a tail like a raccoon. Mommy says that my fur is so soft that she can hardly tell when her hand begins to touch it. I always keep my fur clean and fresh smelling, like soap. | Floofy

Home Is Where The Moo Is

 I like being beautiful!

I don't mind telling you that I am a kitty genius. I know how to open cupboards and drawers to see if there's anything new inside. I have also figured out how doorknobs work, but without thumbs it's a bit tricky to turn them. | Sometimes I open the screen door by myself and try to sneak down the hall, but Mommy always nabs me before I get into trouble.

I even know a few people-words. I can understand my names: Calvin, Moo, and Squashy. | I also understand "come here" and "brush" but my favorite word of all time is "snacky-snack!" (Between you and me, I also know what "No" means, but don't tell Mommy.)

When I was a teenage-kitty, I loved to sit on high places, even if they weren't safe. Mommy calls me "Dangle Boy" because I like hanging my tail or paws off whatever I'm sitting on. A few times I fell off the ledge of the second story loft. That was embarrassing. Thank goodness I never got hurt!

One thing I also loved as a small kitty was sleeping next to Mommy. It was so warm and snuggly up next to her. At first, Mommy tried to keep me off the bed with the squirt bottle. I hate squirtings! But I was so determined to stay on the bed with her that I stood there like a brave soldier boy while she squirted me, in spite of being soaked. After that, she never tried to get me off the bed again. When I got bigger I even let her tuck her toes up under me at night to keep them warm. | The Moo is WIN!

Cats and dogs are not our whole life...

...but they make our lives whole. - Bettina Eddie

Here Kitty, Kitty | Even though I am an easygoing and fun-loving guy, there are some things that give me the willies. I don't like the vacuum or Mommy's Hat of Doom. When I see either one, I do my "low run" and try to scoot away. I also run and dive bomb things after I have a bad doody. I hate noises that remind me of the Northridge Earthquake and, for some reason, I don't trust ceiling fans.

Cats understand the importance of a nap. | Meow

The list of things I like is very long. Being a gourmand, of course, snacks are on the top of my list and I'll waddle as fast as possible to get them. Some of my favorite things to eat are olives, tuna, and catnip. I also like to drink dripping water out of tubs or sinks, I love brushing, and I enjoy chillaxin' under the bed. I absolutely adore plastic -- either in grocery bag or beanbag form -- even though I'm allergic to it and my lips get swollen up. It feels so cool and smooth on my belly that I can't resist it. But I like warm things too, like fleece blankets.

When Mommy lets me give her belly-leg or belly-butt, or lets me lay on her chest, it's pure heaven! I love goofing around in boxes and playing peekaboo from inside the tub. When Mommy changes the sheets, one of my favorite games is playing "Where's the Moo?" underneath them, feeling the breeze and trying to catch Mommy's fingers with my paw. Sometimes Daddy needs my help with his video games so I sit on the table behind him and encourage him by pushing his shoulder with my fuzzy paw. I also enjoy taxi rides in the laundry basket. Choo Choo Moo comin' through!

It's pretty easy to get me purring and when I do, I kinda sound like a mini Harley Davidson. Once I get started, sometimes I can purr for a few hours straight, even by myself. But better than being alone is sitting between Mommy & Daddy on the bed at night. I feel all happy and snuggly. I am Rumble Boy!

Mommy is my best friend so I do my best to cheer her up if she feels depressed or lonely. Sometimes just hugging me, warm and strong, helps her feel better. Other times, I play Comedy Moo for her, doing silly things to make her laugh. | Comedy Moo

 Moments of kitty bliss

The funniest joke I did for Mommy was a bit of slapstick on my part. I ran into the bathroom to dive into the tub for my daily sip of dripping water, but I didn't notice her bra was hanging off the knob of the open bathroom door. Somehow I managed to dive into the loose bra strap and swing up and nearly all the way around the door knob until I flew off in the opposite direction! That one required a lot of practice while she wasn't looking, but it was worth it because I had her cracking up for hours.

I love my Mommy & Daddy and I know they love me. We have a great family!

Our beloved Calvin crossed the Rainbow Bridge on November 10, 2009. We will miss him forever and love him twice that long.

~~ Last Night ~~ I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying you found it hard to sleep. I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here." I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me. I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more. I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care. I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you; I smiled and said, "it's me." You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there. It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away." You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew... in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you. The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning." And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me. - Author Unknown | Love | Forever | Our
