S: Italy and New York 2011

BC: The End | made with love by Denise 2011 Cast of characters: Ken Tanouye Esther Halter Bobi Sorensen Denise Hewitt

FC: Ken, Esther, Denise and Bobi | Our European Vacation April 2011

Life brings simple pleasures to us every day. It is up to us to make them wonderful memories. CathyAllen | On Our Way - this is before the plane got hit by lightning | Denise's London trip trying to get a passport | Our London trip ...LOL

LONDON | We took a London tour. Our tour guide, John, knew all sorts of little tidbits, the kind you would normally not get. We saw Parliament, Trafalgar Square, the Eye, Big Ben and Windsor Castle. We picked Denise up with her temporary passport and then had lunch in the pub, The Golden Lion.

Our first night hotel room in Italy! Just the start of our Italian adventure!! Not to mention how long it took to get here! | Our home for several days - At least we got a bed on day 2

The crime scene.. we were robbed while sleeping!!! They removed the whole lock. The police said it was a professional job. Denise said it's a good thing we didn't wake up. They left the cameras, laptops - what they ended up with was Bobi's 200 Euros and 200 USDs.

 the view from the castle

FLORENCE- FIRENZE | Bobi (Mario Andrette) did an amazing job of maneuvering the narrow streets, even going the wrong way on one and also on the sidewalk - but everywhere there were tons of people to get around. Denise got her authentic italian charm for her bracelet and temporarily lost her phone. We got to and from Florence without an issue, unlike later in the week.

A little plaza where we had our first Italian meal!

Bobi trying to get her eurail fare since the thief stole all her cash | Sitting wherever we wanted - before we realized we had assigned seating.. and even though we paid for the speedy train, we got on the slow one :-(

The day we were in Venice was beautiful - warm and sunny. We walked amongst tons of shops and through St. Mark's Square. We loved the gondola ride with Roberto our gondolier and traveling via water taxis. Ken always drooled over the pastries but never bought any. He was also the only one who could declare zero bought at Customs. | VENICE - VENEZIA

 Where's Esther

Making our wishes in the Trevi Fountain! Right outside the fountain, had some delicious gelatto and lattes. Bobi and Denise also got authentic Italian shoes this day :-)

Bobi was looking for her Italian hunk and she found him... an Italian policeman. We are in the metro on the way to the train station when all this yelling happens. We barely got off the metro - Bobi was in front and had to push her way off. The woman she pushed is yelling - in Italian - is she saying Bobi pushed her? And this guy next to her is yelling "Police"- Why is he calling for the police?!!? We go up the escalator but decide to wait and the guy yelling police follows us... it turns out he is the police. (see picture :-) ) He says the gypsies block the exits and then pickpocket the tourists. He asked us if we were missing anything. But nope, we all had all our belongings.. he was one of the few Italians we met that spoke good English! And what a hunk!!! (written by Denise and I know Bobi would agree with me!)

Livorna - On the Coast Stopped here for lunch on the way to Pisa. Expensive restaurant. The smoking section got the view of the water.

Pisa - Our Italian Journey End

The tourists tried to take pics holding up the leaning tower. When we went to the ticket office the next available time for climbing the tower was 7 pm so it was something we didn't get to do. We drove to Livorna and Pisa and amazingly we did not get lost going back to Montegufoni unlike the day we came back from the Vatican - it took 4 hours to go from Florence to the castle (typically a 20 minute drive) and a $50 Euro toll charge.

New York! The end of our trip, but we crammed alot into 2 days: We went to the top of the Empire State Building, saw the Statue of Liberty, walked all around Times Square, saw the play Memphis at the famous Shubert Theater and even went shopping. We had an awesome lunch at Juniors, rode the subway and just had a great time. And Bobi and Denise both brought back Desigual wear! | A BOWLING CENTER ON TIMES SQUARE

New York, the end of our fabulous Italian trip with too many memories to record here. We had a great time and will remember it for a long time.....
