FC: Friends by Edna Nsiah Talking to children about social skills
1: About the book When children are developing friendships, they must understand others feelings. In this book we will talk about friends, empathy, sharing and getting along with others. Children learn positive social skills by interacting with others and teacher reinforcement.
2: My name is Miss Tara. I am a preschool teacher. I want to share with you what I observed in school today.
3: On the playground, friends are swinging. Miss Tara says "Friends play together and have lots of fun.”
4: Be patient when playing, and wait your turn. Miss Tara says “I like the way you are playing together.”
5: Sharing makes play more fun. Miss Tara says “It's nice to share."”
6: Listening to your friends and sharing is important. Miss Tara says “Listening and sharing are important to your friends.”
7: Appreciate your friends. Miss Tara says "Friends are wonderful."
8: Be a friend and you will have friends. Miss Tara says “Friends make playing so much fun.”
9: Be kind to your friends, and help your friends. Miss Tara says “Thanks for helping your friend with his shoe.”
10: Empathy is understanding when someone is upset. Miss Tara says “I like that you realized you upset your friend.”
