FC: The Art that Made Japan

1: Welcome to Japan

2: About the Art of Japan | Japanese art, what a marvelous thing to behold. From marvelous buildings, to dazzling, artistic creations.

3: Experience the true wonder of art through Japan.

4: The Past | The first settlers of Japan were the Jomon people. The Jomon era as from 10,500 -300 B.C. They crafted lavishly decorated pottery storage vessels, clay figures called dogu, and crystal Jewels. The Yayoi people arrived in Japan around 350 B.C. They brought with them knowledge of making bronze bells, and kiln fired ceramics.

6: The Past | The transmission of Buddhism, provided contact between China, Korea, and Japan. The Japanese took ideas from these country's to progress their art. For example historiography, bureaucracy, new technology, new building techniques, and much, much more.

7: One of the major inventions made during the Askura period was the Kondo. The kondo in the style of Chinese worship halls, was a two story building with post and beam construction, with a roof of ceramic tiles. Inside the Kondo are some of the most important sculptures of this time period. The central image is Buddha flanked by two sculptures cast in bronze, made by the sculptor Tori Busshi. The Images were made in the 7th century.

8: Learn the history through the pages | The calligraphy above has been made by Muso Soseki, in a flowing Sosho style. The letters have no spiritual meaning.

9: Many people have changed the course of Japanese history. For example Muso Soseki [1275-1351] was a Japanese zen master, a poet and a calligrapher.

10: Future | In Japan, the world of art is an elegant and swiftly painted picture. The calligraphy printed on give an impression of what the picture is about. Here the picture represent peace and hope. The way a fan is moved, it moves in peace. While moving that fan there is hope of what will be. Looking at the picture makes a serene heart.

12: Future | Being able to create a japanese picture is a very pleasing moment which is a main reason for japanese artists. This gives a moment to have time for themselves. The way the fan has a curve shows the sway of life. It creates energy and builds a group of tranquility. 16: Conclusion | Many things take time, and to reach success one must take one step at a time. Japanese art started out as clay pots, then it evolved lovely architectural houses. And today Japan is full of art from top to bottom. From fountains, to clothes, to paintings, and much much more.
