2: Ballad Ballad Poems are poems that tells a story similar to a folk tale or legend and often has a repeated refrain. A ballad is often about love and often sung. A ballad is a story in poetic form. Example: The Mermaid by Unknown author Oh the ocean waves may roll, And the stormy winds may blow, While we poor sailors go skipping aloft And the land lubbers lay down below, below, below And the land lubbers lay down below. Epic Epic Poems are long, serious poems that tells the story of a heroic figure. Example: Hiawatha's Departure from The Song of Hiawatha by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow By the shore of Gitchie Gumee, By the shining Big-Sea-Water, At the doorway of his wigwam, In the pleasant Summer morning, Hiawatha stood and waited. Tanka A Japanese poem of five lines, the first and third composed of five syllables and the rest of seven. 6: Poetry Analysis T: I think it meen like a family tree. P: Withered-To become dry or shivered. S: Life. The good and bads of life. Climbing the birches is like growing up. C: "Ice storms do that." I think he is saying that an ice storm brings you down. Ice storms are like bad things. You are the effect not cause. The mood is kinda sad because he is disapointed he didn't live his life as best he could. The climbing of the birch trees is like growing up and the higher you get its the older you get. In the first couple of lines I think it meens people can have fun but don't get out of controll or it will bring you down. I think if you are swinging on branched you are having fun but you don't relise what you are doing and you might hurt other people.

7: A: He is speaking happness and sadness S: In the beggining it is kind of sad but then it gets happier. At the end there is sarrow because he can't relive life. T: Birched are life. T: The poem meens there is sad stuff in life but there is happy stuff and live it the best you can because you never can go back.

8: Ode Poem Ode to Go Skateboard Day June 21st is the day of skateboard. The kids go wild and want to skate. There is no stop to this frantic day. Groups of kids play SKATE, others like up to hit up some stairs. As the wind picks up the cold air the streets get blackend by the think air; until there is no light or sound at all.

9: Narrative Poem | There was once a sqirrel who ate alot of nuts. The nuts made him go nuts. He tricked other animals, runs across the street when cars where coming, and jumps onto houses. One day the animals decided to take away his nuts and give him a cookie to eat. The squirrel thiguht it was nuts so he went nuts. As the squirrel tricked the animals. The animals started to play with the squirrel. The squirrel started not to feel good. The sqirrel got sick and relized that all of the animals where nuts. He then new that they stole his acorns.
