FC: Kate & Jeff
It is love that makes the impossible possible. ~Indian Proverb To one amazing person... Hi there! We are Kate and Jeff and it is with great admiration and respect that we are writing to you. We are so very thankful that you are considering adoption. Although we have not met you, we do know that you are a person of tremendous courage and love. While it is impossible for us to know exactly how you are feeling, we do know that you love your baby very much and we would make sure that he or she always knows that. Through this profile, we hope to give you a glimpse into our lives and not only tell you a little about us, but also show you who we are and what we have to share. Hopefully our story will bring you comfort in knowing that we are a warm and compassionate couple who can provide a fun and loving home for your baby. We have a lot of love to give and hope that you will consider us for your precious child. Throughout your journey, we wish you much peace, support and love. Best wishes, Kate & Jeff
How We Met... Ten years ago, fate brought us together. At the time, we happened to be attending the same college and were both dating other people. Mutual friends introduced us and something just clicked. Whether we were watching a movie, bowling, playing in the snow or even studying, we were always laughing with one another. Needless to say, this relationship that started off as an amazing friendship blossomed into something much more. Now we have been married for five and a half years and our love for one another is stronger than ever. Our friendship, love, faith, hope and strength continue to grow deeper with each passing day. "Live, Love, Laugh" is one of our favorite sayings. We live to love, love to live and without a little laughter we wouldn't have either of those. | The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart. ~Helen Keller
Do what makes you happy. Be with who makes you smile. Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live. | More About Us... It didn't take long for us to figure out that we both shared a love for children. It is because of this love that we each decided to pursue a career in elementary education. Thus far, throughout his teaching, Jeff has taught every grade level from kindergarten to sixth grade. Everyone jokes that he can't decided which age he likes the best! Whether he is teaching a five year old to read or playing review Jeopardy with a twelve year old, he loves every minute of it! Kate has been teaching for over six years. Currently, she has taken some time off to help her parents with the family business and pursue Kate and Jeff's dream of starting a family. To help fill her need to be around kids, she babysits her friend's six month old baby a few days a week and continues to help with school activities and functions. Knowing how much we loved children, we knew that having kids was a no brainer. We were married for about a year when we decided it was time to have a baby. Now, over four years and lots of fertility treatments later, our original vision of beginning our own family has slightly changed. Dealing with infertility has made us closer and stronger than ever. We have a much deeper understanding of what really matters and we have become very excited about fulfilling our dream for a family through adoption. We now truly believe that adoption is the plan that was meant for our lives. | More About Us.. It didn't take long for us to figure out that we both shared a love for children. 4: Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift. That is why we call it the present. ~B. 5: My wife, Kate... I am so lucky to have Kate in my life. I received a tremendous gift the day she became my wife. She is my best friend in good times and my rock in times of sorrow. She is the reason for sweet yesterdays and my promise for tomorrow. After all this while, she is still the one that makes me smile. Katie has a heart of gold. She is always doing things for others and expects nothing in return; whether it is decorating Christmas trees for those less fortunate, helping prepare and hand out meals at the local soup kitchen, watching a friend's newborn, or organizing and volunteering her time to many community events, she is always there for others. Kate is what I like to call a child magnet. It doesn't matter if it is my nephews, her cousins, my cousins, the children of our friends, or her students, they always seem to flock to her. This is probably because she is a giant ball of energy. She gets so excited when she is around children. They definitely bring out the best in her. When you combine the two, you are sure to have a roomful of laughter and smiles. I have had many friends, family members, and parents of our friends ask me how she does it. They ask, "How does she put in a full days work and still have all this energy?" She is always so patient with little ones. She is definitely a very happy-go-lucky person, but when she is with kids, she is right at home where her heart is. She has an obvious motherly instinct. This is how I know she will be a fantastic mother. Even though she has decided to take a break from teaching to pursue this lifelong dream, she is still in close contact with many of her students. She has students and families contacting her often to say hello, wish her well and hopefully get together with her. She has even done lunch with past students. She definitely gives her students someone to look up to. "Everyone hopes to get Mrs. 'A' for a teacher." It is with great ease that Kate is able to show and share her love for me on a daily basis. I thank God for being able to wrap my arms around her at night and wake up next to her in the morning. When I'm at work, I cannot wait to get home to ask her how her day was and share my day with her. She makes me feel so good about myself and our relationship at all times. It is because of the way Katie makes me feel, treats others, takes care of myself and others, is able to pick people up when they are down, and the way every single person I come into contact with just gloats about her that I know she will be a miraculous mother.
My husband, Jeff... Jeff is my best friend as well as my husband. Even after over five years of marriage, he never ceases to amaze me. It is all the little things that he does that really make me smile: cooking me my favorite meal, surprising me by cleaning the house from top to bottom, writing me absolutely beautiful poems, giving me a massage after a long day, sending me gorgeous flowers (for no reason at all), among countless other things. He truly has a heart of gold and I am blessed to have him in my life. Jeff absolutely loves kids and is wonderful with them; this is probably due to the fact that he is a big kid himself! Watching him wrestle and play with his nephews makes my heart smile. They always can't wait to hang out with their favorite Uncle Jeff. With his silly Donald Duck voice and his funny faces, Jeff always knows how to make them laugh. His students love him too! We often have children knocking on our door looking to say, "Hello" to their "cool" teacher. It is these moments that confirm the fact that I know Jeff will make an extremely, amazing father. For the past couple years, in addition to putting in a long day at school, Jeff has been working diligently to obtain his administrative degree. His hard work ethic and desire to further this education and career are truly admirable. What perhaps is even more remarkable is the fact that one of his reasons for doing this is to provide for me. Jeff often mentions that his goal is to be able to make my dream of being a stay-at-home mom come true. That is Jeff for you; he is a caring, thoughtful, adorable man that is always putting other people before himself. Jeff's personality is infectious! Just being around him would make you smile; as a matter of fact, I am grinning from ear to ear just thinking about him! With each passing day, my love for Jeff continues to grow. I'm excitedly looking forward to spending the rest of my life with this incredible man. He is an extraordinary person and I know he will make an outstanding father.

Our Family... Our family is our foundation. We are very fortunate to live within ten minutes of all of our parents and siblings; this makes it easy to get together for holidays, birthdays, or just because. Every Tuesday night, we can be found gathering at Kate's parents' house for dinner with her parents, brother, sister-in-law, and grandpa(Buster). Our dog, Charlie, also loves to join us so he can get a chance to play with his girlfriend, Timber (Kate's parents' dog). We consider ourselves lucky to both come from large extended families; collectively we have 29 aunts and uncles and 36 first cousins. Whether it's family barbeques, surprise birthday parties, or vacations, we always have a lot of fun when we all get together! Every one of them is so excited that we are pursuing adoption. We have a huge support system that is anxiously awaiting a new addition to the family. Adoption is something that Kate's family is already familiar with. Through adoption, her aunt and uncle have been blessed with two absolutely adorable kids. Since Kate's family owns their own business, it has provided her with an amazing opportunity. Having taken some time off from teaching, she has the pleasure of working along-side one of her best friends, her mother. They run the office end of the family lumber company out of Kate's parents' home; these conditions will provide Kate the ability to be a stay-at-home mother while having the flexibility and support of her own mom. Both of us come from families with a strong sense of religion and family morals. The values that were instilled in us are the values we would like to inspire our very own family to live by. We know what it is like to be a part of a family where everyone gets involved and our own child will be able to experience the same type of lifestyle.
Our Friends... Throughout our lives, we have been blessed to have made so many friends along the way. Without the love and support of these special people, we wouldn't be who we are today. Being the types that thoroughly enjoy being surrounded by others, our calendars are usually booked with all sorts of get-togethers with family and friends. We look forward to the day that we can bring our child with us on these fun-filled outings. Whether we are camping, hiking, kayaking, skiing, vacationing, going out to eat, or gathering for a wild "game night", we always know exciting times will be had with our friends. Perhaps one of the greatest things about our friends is the fact that the majority of them have amazing children of their own. This is so wonderful because we already know that our future son or daughter will have instant playmates!
To us, family means putting your arms around each other and being there. ~Barbara Bush | I get by with a little help from my friends. ~John Lennon
A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams.
Our Home... Our home is situated in a beautiful, quiet development in upstate New York. In our eyes, it is simply perfect! With five bedrooms and a great open floor plan, our home is very spacious, yet cozy. We have a special bedroom picked out that is ready to be decorated and is joyfully waiting to welcome a baby home. After a long day at work, one of our favorite things to do is to come home and snuggle up by the fireplace. There is just something about it that makes all our worries melt away. We are fortunate enough to have some of the best neighbors anyone could ask for. We knew from the moment we moved into our home and were showered with delicious home baked goods and well wishes that this was going to be a super place to live. Boy were we right! Without a doubt, should we ever need anything, our neighbors are there to help us out. Just recently, Jeff had a broken ankle and Kate was recovering from minor surgery; the man across the street noticed that we had not been out and about too often, so he called to check on us and then surprised us by mowing our lawn. It is those little things that make us realize how lucky we truly are.
Our Community... Being teachers in both of the local school districts, we couldn't rave enough about them! We are lucky to be surrounded by people that not only love their jobs, but also absolutely adore kids. The schools offer a wide variety of different clubs and activities for children to participate in. We have a blast helping run the snowshoe club, running club, Science club, homework club, and Airband (a lip syncing club). Words can't describe how awesome it is to see a kid be so excited to stay after school and get involved in the great opportunities our schools have to offer. Living in the Adirondacks is beautiful! Our town is surrounded by pristine lakes and mountains. They not only make for breath taking views, but they also provide lots of things to do. Whether we are hiking the Adirondack Mountains, jet skiing on Schroon Lake, kayaking on Lake George, or attending a New York Yankees game, we love being outdoors. Not to mention, we live less than two miles from Six Flags! The change of seasons in upstate New York is wonderful! Every few months, we look forward to switching gears and doing something new. Water skis are exchanged for cross country skis; hiking boots are traded for snowshoes; jet skis become snowmobiles. It is always an adventure!

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face. ~Bern Williams
Our Dog... Upon stepping into our home, you would be greeted by our favorite, little, four -legged friend, Charlie. Charlie is a Pekingese puppy and is the cutest, spunkiest dog ever. Almost four years ago, we found Charlie on the Internet through an interstate adoption agency. Sadly, a breeder was going to euthanize Charlie because his coloring wasn't perfect and his face was crooked. After seeing his pictures and reading his story, we knew we had to adopt him. In his free time, Charlie loves to snuggle on the couch with us and go for long walks through our neighborhood. He also thoroughly enjoys taking car rides and going through Dunkin Donuts drive thru; the girls there love Charlie and always spoil him with munchkins! More recently, we were so excited to see how well Charlie got along with children, especially babies. Since Kate has been doing a bunch of babysitting for her friends infants, we got to see first hand how Charlie would react to them. He just wanted to be near them and cuddle. It was priceless!
