FC: Kris & Cara's
A is for anniversary – our two-year anniversary. Thank you for making the last 24 months the best yet. I love you! | March 21, 2008 | A
B is for Blue House, where I first met you playing a romantic game of flippy cup. You were such a gentleman, walking me home all the way to the door. When I went inside, I immediately rushed to my friends and told them how absolutely perfect you were. I just hoped you would call. You did. | B
C is for compromise. We have had our struggles as we figure out what it takes to make a relationship work, but fortunately, we’ve both learned to compromise and merge two rocky paths into one smooth road to happiness. | C
D is for dancing! | We’re both horrible dancers, but it works. I love how, despite our lack of skill, we can still hit the dance floor and have a fantastic time in our own world.
E is for equal. You have brought me to the most wonderful notion of equality. I could have stood on my liberal soapbox preaching about equality all day, but I never actually felt like I was equal to the successful people I admired. You gave me confidence and made me see that success does not discriminate, but comes to those who work for it. | e
F is for fine | . . . because baby you are so fine
G is for giving. You give and give, even when you should be on the receiving end. The small things - sticky notes on the door, sweet e-mails at work, folding my laundry – touch my heart in a large way. I hope you know how much I appreciate everything you do for me. | G
H is for home. We made 3015 Bainbridge Circle our first home. It was fun to fill it with new furniture and décor, but what made it home was that I got to share it with YOU (and Reilly, too!) | H
You go after things you want and have made it all happen – you wanted to coach, you made a call and two years later you are Head Coach; you wanted to get your master’s degree, you are now inches away; you wanted to learn more about social media, you took a class and even landed a killer social media internship . . . the way you chase after what you want inspires me to do the same. I wouldn’t have come this far without the determination you instilled in me. Thank you. | I is for inspire
J is for journalism. Whether you become a journalist or not, you are a talented writer. Since I’ve been with you, I have learned so much about the rich world of media. Your diverse knowledge is impressive, and I love that whenever I have a media question, I have my own personal expert to turn to.
K is for Kansas City Barnstormers. I love watching your games. The baseball is good, but watching you on the field – how you work with the players, how you maintain control, how happy you are – when you’re coaching, your best features are highlighted, and whether you win or lose, I always leave feeling incredibly lucky and proud to be the coach’s girl.
We’re both trying to figure out where we fit in this crazy world. I don’t know where we’ll end up, but I know wherever your puzzle piece fits, mine is a snug fit beside it. | L | is for life.
 M is for March 23 – our special day! N is for never-ending . . . my love for you is never-ending!
O is for odd. We are a strange pair. I love that I can completely expose my goofiness and you love me anyway. We have had some conversations that even I, in retrospect, think are completely bizarre . . . but those were some of the best conversations I’ve ever had. | O
P is for puppy parents. Reilly has been a part of our family for more than a year now. I’ve loved being a first-time puppy parent with you, especially because Reilly is the best dog ever! | P
R is for reality TV. You’ve gotten me hooked on it and I love you and hate you for it at the same time . . . but more love than hate. | Q is for quintessential . . . you are the quintessential man – tough enough to make me feel secure yet gentle enough to cuddle with under the coveted blue blanket. | Q | R
S is for support. As I battled my disorder, you were there right alongside me when I needed you, and stayed away from me when I needed space. You helped me enjoy life again, and gave me something worth fighting for . . . YOU. | (S is also for snicker doodles, but we won’t go there . . . ) | S
T is for Tennessee, where we’ve now had two wonderful trips together. Even when we were centimeters away from cars – trapped – we laughed it off and enjoyed Fourth-of-July fireworks from reflections on windows. I fell in love with you even more that night. | T
U is for unlikely. Our love seems unlikely, if you would look at the distinctly differing individuals we were 10 years ago. Our life’s path molded us and made us right for each other. An unlikely love became the perfect match - God had a master plan. | U
V is for values. I used to have my values all misplaced. You have helped me to understand what is of true importance in life. We can both get absorbed in work, but at the end of the day, we have each other. And that is what really matters. | V
W is for Wildcats. I walked away from Baker with a great education, wonderful friends and tools to reach success . . . but I would forfeit all of those things and still be content with all the expense and time, because if it weren’t for Baker I wouldn’t have met you. | X is for eXpenses. We are quickly discovering that the real world requires real money. It’s a little overwhelming – following Dave Ramsey, creating budgets, allocating for expenses, saving for . . . life – but it’s exciting to move forward to reach our mutual goals together. | W | X
My boyfriend, boo, lover, best friend, biggest fan, teddy bear, protector of bumps in the night and the reason I smile inside. | Y is for YOU !
Z is for Zzzzzz’s. You’re my last thought before I go to sleep and my first thought when I wake up next to you every morning . . . I couldn’t ask for a better way to start and end each day. | Zzz
Now I know my ABCs . . . now will you rewrite them with me?
