1: Levi Strauss was the first to patent and manufacture blue jeans.

2: At age 18, Levi took a boat to the U.S.A.

3: Levi became a U.S citizen in January 1853.

4: His father started a dry goods business in NYC.

5: Levi started another dry goods business in San Francisco

6: In late 1870 Jacob Davis and Levi designed jeans with metal rivets at points of strain for strength.

7: Levi patented his design for using metal rivets on May 20, 1873.

8: Levi called his business Levi Strauss & Co and began selling his jeans.

9: Levi died September 26, 1902 (age 73). He left his business to some of his family members.

10: Levi founded one of the leading apparel manufacturers today.

11: Levi was inducted into the Business Hall of Fame in 1994.
