1: The French Revolution The French Revolution happened from 1789-1799, in France. People of the Third Estate revolted o gain more of a say in the countries government. King Louis XVI was spending all of the countries money on himself and the second and first estates, this caused the country to go bankrupt even with the insane inflation of taxes paid by the third estate. This is what caused the revolt in the first place. The revolution turned into the Reign of Terror where thousands lost their homes and properties. it helped make some documents that had liberal influences. On August 26, 1789, the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was approved by the National Assembly, this was a document of individual freedoms. This also showed a clear picture of how liberalism affected French society.

4: on top of | John Locke | John Locke was born on August 29 1632 and died on October 28 1704. He was widely know as Father of Liberalism, and he was also an English Philosopher, physician and one of the greatest enlightenment thinkers. He was the man who came up with the liberalism ideas in the modern world. | John Locke
5: John Stuart Mill was born on May 20 1806 and died May 8 1873. He contributed to political and social theories and political economy. He was a Member of Parliament and an important figure of Liberal political philosophy. He was very involved in protecting individual freedom and individual decision making. John believed people can act the way they want to act as long as they don`t harm people in process. He advocated for free speech. | John Stuart Mill
6: on top of | Montesquieu was born on January 18 1689 and died February 10 1755. In the 1700s his works were banned in the Catholic Church. he believed in the equality of individuals and the accountability of the government. He thought the government should be split up into three divisions: The Legislative, executive and judicial. For his system to work it needs to be a democracy. | Baron de Montesquieu
7: Thomas Hobbes was born on April 5 1988 and died on December 4 1679. He developed liberal characteristics like the right of the individual, and the natural equality of all men. He is considered one of the founding men of modern political philosophy. | Thomas Hobbes
8: Adam Smith | Adam Smith was born on June 5 1723 and died on July 17 1790. He did not like the mercantile system, he believed it didn't help the state's people. He believed that supply and demand or a free-market economy would help the state and the state's people thrive better. He also believed the government should only able to maintain the rule of law, to ensure public help in towns and cities. This lead to the development of a economic system used with classical liberalism.
